Joseph Komanec, 87 of Gilman, died Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at the
Gilman Care Center under the care of Hope Hospice.
He was born on March 10, 1925 in the Ladysmith Hospital the son of the late
John and Magdeline (Raboss) Komanec. Joe grew up in the area and Logged for a
few years. On Feb. 26, 1949 married Elizabeth Prasnicky at Saints Peter &
Paul Catholic Church in Gilman. The couple farmed in Gilman all of their
lives.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Betty of Gilman, Joanne (Jeff) Ahlers
of Jump River, Joe (Lynne) Komanec of Gilman, Louise Komanec of
Woodbury, MN, John (Donna) Komanec of Gilman, Rose (Tom) Reyzer of
Altoona, George (Roxanne) Komanec of Bloomer and Tina (Roger) Nichols
of Gilman, 17 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and two sisters, Mitzie
Shewczyk of Gilman and Margaret Badzinski of Thorp. Joe is preceded in
death by his parents, brothers John, Vincent and Paul, sisters, Mary
Vanderport, Betty Nygren, Anna Komanec and Bertha Kliscz and
grandchildren Brent and Krystal Komanec.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at
Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church-Gilman. Father Madanu Sleeva Raju
will officiate. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be from 4
until 8 PM on Friday at the Gilman Funeral Home with a 7:45 parish rosary.
Visitation will continue Saturday from 9:30 until time of service at the Church
