Frank L. Beran, Sr

Frank L. Beran, Sr., age 85, of Athens, passed away on Monday, September 16, 2019 at Dycora Transitional  Health and Living in Abbotsford surrounded by his loving family under the tender care of hospice.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 23, 2019 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Milan.   Interment to follow at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery.  Family and friends are welcome from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, September 22 and from 10:00 a.m. until time of service Monday all at the church.

 

Frank was born on January 11, 1934 the son of Frank and Ethel (McKee) Beran on the family farm in the Town of Johnson.  He graduated from Abbotsford High School in 1952.  On September 1, 1954, Frank was united in marriage to Caroline Schug.  Together they farmed on his family farm.

Frank also worked at Marathon Electric in Wausau.  He was a bee keeper and sold honey, collected sap for maple syrup, sprayed crops for farmers in the area and was a District Rep for McNess Minerals and DeKalb Seed Corn.  Frank served on the Board of Directors for Athens Cooperative.  He coached men’s softball and was a certified umpire for softball as well.  Frank enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing cards, bowling and was an avid Wisconsin sports fan.  He also enjoyed listening and dancing to polka music and waltzes.  Most importantly, he cherished his family.

 

Frank is survived by his wife of 65 years, Caroline; five sons: Frank (Cindy Ann) Jr. of Abbotsford, Norman (Sharon) of Athens, Michael (Cindy Sue) of Athens, Cary (Linda) of Milan and Robin (Debra) of Abbotsford; 21 grandchildren: Matthew (Nicole) Beran, Kelly (Phil) Scruggs, Angela (Kenneth) Rundell, Frank “Adam” (Brandi Trusty), Colton Beran, Cameron Beran, Brenley Beran, Chris (Mindy) Beran, Tammy (David) Lee, Maria (Ben) Severson, Jon (Lisa) Beran, Sara (Paul) Krum, Alyssa Beran, Eric (Jennifer) Beran, April (Steve) Wirtala, Jason (Cassandra) Beran, Jordan (Jackie) Beran, Tyler (Samantha) Beran, Ryan Beran, Elizabeth Beran and Jesse Beran; 31 great-grandchildren.  He is further survived by his brother, Rodney (Marge) Beran of VA, his brother-in-law, Henry Schneveis; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: June Schneveis and Donna Mae (Lyle) Belanger.
