Shane W. Klemm, 55, of Westboro, passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 30, 2020 surrounded by his family, under the care of Hope Hospice, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Shane was born on June 3, 1965. He attended Medford schools and was a 1983 graduate of Medford High School. After high school, he attended DeVry Institue in Chicago to study computers. He enlisted in the Army National Guard in 1982 and served for 21 years. He was stationed in Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003-2004. He was a landscaper and owned Wilderness Landscaping for 12 years. He was later employed at the Taylor County Sheriff's Department and worked there until ill health forced his retirement.
In his spare tiime, Shane enjoyed fishing, gardening, cooking, music and computers. He especially enjoyed his charter fishing trips. He was a previous member of the Westboro Fire Department and a current member of the First Baptist Church in Medford.
Shane is survived by his wife of 31 years, Marlene (Czerniak) Klemm; a daughter, Dr. Angeline (Timothy) Smith of Hillsboro, OR and one grandson, Owen Shane Smith. He is further survived by his mother, Beatrice Klemm of Medford and siblings, Sandra (Bruce) Ross of Medford, Sherry Klemm of South Dakota, Scott (Sherry) Klem of Mosinee, Sally Klemm of Marshfield, Ramona (Kim) Sandberg of Rhinelander, Allen Towne of Lac du Flambeau, Randy Towne of Tomahawk, Rosemary (Lee) Fintelmann of Tomahawk, Katherine (Edwin lll) johnson of Rhinelander, Valerie (Gary) Yamauchi of Rhinelander and Deborah (John) McMeekin of Tomahawk. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr, Eugene Klemm, his biological mother Phyliis Towne and a brother, Steven Klemm.
A private family service for Shane Klemm will be held on Thursday, july 2nd at the First Baptist Church in Medford officiated by Pastor Tim Becker. There will be a celebration of life graveside service with military honors at a later date.
The Cremation Society of Wisconisn is serving the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to his wife, Marlene, toward Unbound, a child sponsorship charity.
