Katherine B. Boehlen

Katherine B. Boehlen, 93, of the township of Deer Creek, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2024 at Aspirus Medford Hospital.

 

A memorial service for Katherine will take place at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with Father Patrick McConnell officiating. Visitation will take place at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Wednesday, January 8, 2025 from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM.

 

Katherine was born on November 18, 1931 to Joseph and Edna (Berness) Kowalewski in the town of Holway. She attended Elm Grove Grade School. She married John F. Boehlen on September 29, 1951 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Stetsonville. John preceded her in death in 1969.

 

Katherine farmed the family farm for 35 years with her children. After leaving the farm she was the head cook at Stetsonville Community Center, where she was known for her chicken. She was proud to say she worked until she was 80.

 

Katherine was a home maker, a Taylor County Fair 4H volunteer, and a member of the homemakers association of Taylor County. She was an avid quilter and donated many quilts. She enjoyed her flowers and decorating church with flowers.

 

Katherine is survived by her children, Dianne (Thomas) Gabavics of Oshkosh, Lawrence Boehlen of Dorchester, Roger (Cindy) Boehlen of Medford, and Rita (Brian) Bunkelman of Stetsonville; sister, Frances (Clarence) Smith of Medford; 16 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

 

In addition to her husband and parents, Katherine was preceded in death by daughters, Martha Truhlar and Karen Fettes; brothers, Stanley and Vernon Kowalewski.
