PRINCIPAL EVENTS IN LIFE: Moved to Chicago for two years and worked as a mother’s helper. After their marriage, they moved back to the Medford area, where they owned and operated a dairy farm in the Town of Browning until 1989. Minnie was an obstetrics nurse tech for 35 years at the Memorial Health Center. She enjoyed painting, where she took lessons at Joe Obrien’s School of Art. She enjoyed taking trips with the Homemakers Tour Group and her husband and grandchildren. Minnie also taught leatherwork in the 4-H. She also enjoyed gardening.

Lucy A. Geiger, 96, of Abbotsford formerly of Dorchester, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2015 at Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 30, 2015 at Saint Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester. Father Charles Hiebl will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:30am until the time of service on Monday. Inurnment will be held in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery following the service.

 

Lucy was born on January 3, 1919 to Richard and Lucy (Leimkuehler) Keller in La Valle, Sauk County, Wisconsin. She attended catholic schools and married Clarence Geiger on May 18, 1937 at Saint Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester. He preceded her in death on February 1, 1986. They farmed in the Township of Mayville, Dorchester until 1972, when they moved to the Village of Dorchester.
Lucy worked at the Continental Manor Nursing Home in Abbotsford and at the Dorchester Elementary School as a cook.

 

Lucy enjoyed cooking, canning, sewing and working on the farm.

 

Lucy was a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters.

 

Lucy is survived by her children: Dale (Donna) Geiger of Dorchester, Richard Geiger of Washington and Janice (Roger) Schmelzer of Burlington, 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren and her brother: Ed (Helen Marie) Keller of Elk Grove Village, IL. She is further survived by her nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

 

Lucy is preceded in death by her parents, her husband: Clarence, son: Donald and a grandson: Brian Schmelzer

Lillian M. Klemm, age 85, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2015 at the Howard Young Medical Center in Woodruff.

Lillian was born on April 25, 1929 in Rib Lake to William and Rose (Roiger) Tilch. In June of 1950, Lillian was married to Irving “Buck” Klemm. Together they moved to Menomonee Falls where they made their home for 25 years. While living in Menomonee Falls, Lillian worked at Briggs & Stratton for 21 years and raised their four children. In 1986, Buck and Lillian retired up to the Pier Willow Region. She and Buck belonged to St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, where they were very devoted and active. Throughout her life, she loved gardening & canning, and enjoyed the great outdoors, but the most important thing to her was her family and her devotion to her church.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Lillian M. Klemm will take place at 11:00AM on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at St. Francis Assisi Catholic Church in Pier Willow. Fr. John Anderson to officiate. Visitation will take place at the church from 9:00AM until the time of Mass at 11:00AM. Burial will take place immediately at St. Francis Cemetery.

Gladys Irene Marcott, 83, of Abbotsford, passed away at her residence in Abbotsford. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 from 11:00 am until 2:00 pm at the Curtiss Missionary Alliance Church in Curtiss with the service at 2:00 PM. Reverend Carl Swarr will officiate. Burial will be in the Pine Hill Cemetery in Curtiss.

 

Gladys was born December 16, 1931 in Waubay, South Dakota, the daughter of Arthur and Ruth (Pierce) Krause. She received her education at Waubay Schools and was a 1949 graduate of Waubay High School. Gladys attended the Saint Paul Bible Institute in Minnesota and worked at the Dessie Scott Children's Home in Pine Ridge, KY. On August 7, 1965 she was united in marriage to Wilfred Marcott at the Owen Alliance Church in Owen, WI. She lived on the Marcott family farm in the Town of Mayville.

 

Gladys worked at the Continental Manor Nursing Home in Abbotsford and Kramer's IGA in Abbotsford for a number of years and at the Colonial Living Center in Colby as a member of the activity team until her retirement. She enjoyed helping the elderly with their housekeeping and getting their groceries.

 

She was a member of the Curtiss Alliance Church and she loved to read the bible, tend her flower garden and above all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

 

Gladys is lovingly survived by her children; Donald (Shirley) Marcott of Weston, Susan (John) Milbeck of New Berlin and Burdella (Bill) Blumenstein of Rib Lake, 19 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and cherished friend; George Eloranta.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband; Wilfred and sons; Arthur, Robert and Richard Marcott .

Velva A. Engel, age 74, of Abbotsford, passed away on Sunday, March 29, 2015 in a traffic Accident. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 2 , 2015 at Zion Lutheran Church in Stetsonville, WI. Reverend James Babler will officiate. Burial will be held in Saint Peter Lutheran Cemetery in the Town of McMillan. Family and friends are welcome from 9:00 AM until the time of the service on Thursday at the church. Velva was born on March 1, 1941 the daughter of Harold and Agnes (Carl) Bach in Marshfield, WI. She was united in marriage to Walter Engel on September, 3 1960 in Milwaukee, WI. He preceded her in death on February 5, 2015. They moved to Abbotsford, WI in 1971.

 

Velva enjoyed shopping. Everything from shopping from magazines, to finding a good deal at a garage sale. During her free time she enjoyed reading. Velva never missed her grandchildren's ballgames. She was their number one fan.

Debera Schneider, Racine, WI grandson; Shawn Tendeland, Oconomowoc, special family: Manuel (Candi) Gamillo, Manny Jr., Sarah and Fransisco Gamillo, sister; Janet (Jerry) Okane of Madison; a sister-in-law; Kathy Bach of Chili and a brother; James Bach of Stratford. She is further by two sister-in-laws: Darlene Schaperkoetter and Sharon (Charles) Jung of Mascoutah, IL and a brother-in-law August (Margarett) Engel of Alaska, , three nieces and two nephews and 6 great-nieces and nephews.

John Tyler Rau

Tyler John Rau, 22, of Abbotsford, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2015. His memorial service will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Stetsonville. Reverend James Babler will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of the service Saturday at the church. Burial will take place at the Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Stetsonville.

 

Tyler was born on November 12, 1992 to Tim and Jill (Martinson) Rau in St. Croix Falls. He is a 2011 graduate of Abbotsford High School. He was currently enrolled at UW Eau Claire perusing a degree in information Technology program. He loved anything to do with computers. In his free time he enjoyed reading and pursuing a black belt in karate.

 

Tyler, on a family trip this last winter, found a passion a snowboarding. When the rest of the family just couldn't snowboard very well, Tyler was a natural.

 

Tyler is survived by his parents; Tim and Jill Rau of Abbotsford, a sister; Courtney Rau of Abbotsford, 2 brothers; Dakota Rau and Logan Rau of Abbotsford; Grandparents; Arlene Rau of Dorchester, and Chuck and Doris Martinson of Amery, 9 uncles; Dave (Kitty) Rau of Dorchester, Richard Rau of Dorchester, Wayne (Donna) Rau of Dorchester, Dan (Chris) Rau of Abbotsford, Randy (Patti) Rau of Dorchester, Pat (Stephanie) Rau of Suamico, Eric Martinson of Osceola, Phil (Michelle) Martinson of Amery, and Scott (Michelle) Martinson of Minnesota and also an aunt Jody (Al) Hubred of Amery. He is also survived by many cousins, other family, and friends.

Michael W. Brey, age 54, of Marshfield, formerly of Colby, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, March 29, 2015 at the Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Colby. Father Daniel Hackel will officiate. Interment will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Colby. Family and friends are welcome from 5:00 until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, March 31 at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Colby with a Rosary Service at 5:00 PM and from 10:00 AM until time of service Wednesday at the church.

 

Michael was born on August 2, 1960, the son of Daniel and Marilyn (Devine) Brey in Marshfield. He attended St. Mary's Catholic Grade School and graduated from Colby High School in 1978. Michael attended UW-Marshfield and UW-Eau Claire studying accounting. He worked for various businesses as a bookkeeper.

 

Michael enjoyed the theatre and was active in the Showcase Players in Colby and the Campus Community Players at UW-Marshfield. He participated in cross country, Cherokee Chum 4-H showing chickens and woodworking and played the tuba in high school. Michael also enjoyed watching sports, drinking Pepsi and eating chocolate.

 

Michael is survived by his father, Daniel Brey of Colby; six sisters and one brother: Deborah Brey of Colby, Diane Brey of Appleton; Sally (Robert) Crane of Stevens Point, Gary (Vicky) Brey of Appleton, Doreen (David) Hebert of Spencer, Kathleen (Joseph) Conley of Marshfield and Judine Brey of Eau Claire; ten nieces and nephews: Joshua, Amy and Nicholas Crane, Kevin and Kelly Brey, Daniel, Marcella and Steven Hebert and Anthony and Theodore Conley. He is further survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins other relatives and friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his mother, Marilyn and his grandparents.

 

A very special thank you to his extended family at Golden Horizons in Marshfield for their loving care and making Michael a part of their family these past 10 years.


Donald R. Thorne

Donald R. Thorne, age 89, of Owen, passed away on Monday, March 23, 2015 at Ministry St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen. Rev. Nancy Amacher will officiate. A visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until the time of service at the funeral home. Military Honors provided by theLublin American Legion Post #547, Owen American Legion Post #123 and the Owen-Withee Vets Club.

 

Donald was born September 8, 1925 the son of Charles and Bernice (Pyatt) Thorne in Riplinger. He was united in marriage to Harriet Hemminger on October 20, 1946 in Owen, Wisconsin. Donald and Harriet were married for 68 wonderful years. She preceded him in death on January 8, 2015.

 

Donald served this country during world war II in the US Army. He was stationed in the Philippines and was the recipient of the Purple Heart. He worked for Master Packaging for many years and retired from the Owen-Withee School District as a custodian after almost 20 years. Donald also was a farmer and a carpenter.

 

Donald is survived by his three children: Jerrold (Diana) Thorne, Aaron (Kay) Thorne, and Arlyn (Holly) Thorne; 13 grandchildren: Erik Thorne, Sarah Thorne, Adam Thorne, Amy Thorne, Stacey Thorne, Mike Darnell, Anna Darnell, Allen (Kayla) Thorne, David Thorne, Doug (Leah) Spence, Stacy Jossart, Jay Pritzl (Heidi), and Kristopher Reinking; and 11 Great-Grandchildren: Mason, Savannah, Ryan, Rachel, Katelyn, Jacob, Charles, Noel, Olivia, Alyssa and Trenton. He is further survived by a sister Joyce (Arnold) Ellis.

 

He is preceded in death by his wife: Harriet; his parents; and two brothers: Floyd (Jeanette) Thorne, and Wilbur (Marjorie) Thorne.

Next he worked in many departments for Liberty Homes in Dorchester for 38 years. He loved fishing, camping, hunting, gardening, country music, football games and spending time with his children & grandchildren.

 JOSEPH SWEDA, age 89, of Lublin, WI, passed away on Wednesday, April 1, 2015 at Oakbrook Nursing & Rehab in Thorp.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Holy Assumption Orthodox Church, in Lublin, with Fr. Ted Wojcik officiating.  Burial will take place in Holy Assumption Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be: Frank Sweda, Harry Sweda, Bill Sweda, Don Sweda, and Marvin Egle.  Visitation will be held at Thorp Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 from 4pm to 8pm, with a 7pm Panikhida service.  Visitation will also be held at the church, on Thursday, from 9:30am until time of service.

     Joseph Sweda was born on January 3, 1926 in Lublin, WI, to Matt and Anna (Paraschak) Sweda.  He was raised on the family farm, received his education at Forest Lake School, and graduated from Withee High School in 1945.  After completing his education, Joe entered the U.S. Air Force and served for 2 years before returning home to Lublin.  He started a business with his brothers, where they hauled gravel and wood products, and farmed.  Joe was united in marriage to Irene L. Egle on September 1, 1951 at Holy Assumption Orthodox Church, in Lublin.  He drove school bus for a couple of years, but spent most of his life in politics. He moved to Madison and served in the Wisconsin legislature for 15 years, where he was appointed the State of Wisconsin Highway Commissioner and later appointed the Commissioner of Transportation.  Joe served as a supervisor on the Taylor County Board, as the Town of Roosevelt Chairman, and on the Fire District Board for many years.
     He was a member of Holy Assumption Orthodox Church, and a charter member of the Lublin American Legion, which he was instrumental in starting.
     Joe had many interests, especially politics, but also enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and deer hunting.
     He is survived by three sisters:  Kathryn Bluemel of Des Plaines, IL,  Nettie (Jim) Kowalczyk of Boyd, WI,  Pauline (Ray) Lewan of Lublin;  five brothers:  Andrew of Elgin, IL,  Frank of Lublin,  Harry of Lublin,  Bill of Colby, WI,  Don of Rolling Meadows, IL;  many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
     Joe was preceded in death by his parents;  his wife, Irene, on April 26, 2011;  four sisters:  Mary Terlecki, Ella Kaye, Helen Janetzke, Julie Roback; and two brothers:  John and Steve Sweda.

PRINCIPAL EVENTS IN LIFE: Claire served in the US Army, and was a Korean War Veteran. He then went on to work construction for a short period of time before returning to Medford. He then worked at Hurd Window Company as a Factory Laborer, and retired after 39 years on January 1, 2001. Claire enjoyed being outside, and had many hobbies. He had a hobby farm with a couple cows and pigs. He loved to go ice fishing in the winter, especially at Miller Dam. He enjoyed playing different games whether it was throwing Horseshoes, or playing card games such as Sheepshead. He always liked to go outside and cut firewood, garden, and watch birds. He also enjoyed watching Wheel of Fortune.

Donald K. Thorson

 

Age 86, of Dorchester, passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at Homeplace Assisted Living of Dorchester.

 

Funeral services will be held at 11:30AM on Tuesday April 14, 2015 At Life Tributes Funeral Home-Spencer.  Burial will follow in Dorchester Cemetery.  Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday at the funeral home in Spencer from 9AM until time of services.

 

Donald was born June 10, 1928 the son of Abraham and Delia (Schoenwetter) Thorson. He attended school in the Greenwood area.  He was united in marriage to Vera Jensen on November 8, 1983 in Rogers, AR.  She survives. Donald worked for many years as a logger and for a period of time owned and operated his own logging business.  His work history also included road construction and over the road truck driving.

 

His hobbies included racing cars, shooting pool and camping.  He loved dancing and attending the “Hodag” country music festival or just spending time with family and friends. Donald was an avid card player and even purchased a book to help him learn to play Blackjack like a pro. He was also a representative of the Lake States Independent Loggers Association.

 

Donald is survived by his wife Vera of Dorchester, first wife Berdene Bierce and their twelve children: Roxanne (Maynard) Purgett of Abbotsford, Jacqueline (Robert) Suthard of Owen, Paula St. Clair of Mosinee, Linda Bruner of Milwaukee, Bryon (Tracey) Thorson of Rosemount ,MN, Mark Thorson of Wausau, Rhonda (Duke) Thorson of Sandusky,OH, Brenda (Fazollah) Behroyan of Lake Worth, FL, Wayne (Jackie) Thorson of Wausau, Merry (Philip) Moran of Wheeling, IL, William (Lena) Thorson of El Cajun, CA and Susan Thorson of Aurora,IL;  four step children: Linda (David) Broeske of Abbotsford, Chris (Mary) Younker of Abbotsford, Randy (Jill) Younker of Dorchester and Rae Ann (Scott) Wichlacz of Medford; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.

Torrie was born July 7, 1995, the daughter of Lannie and Elizabeth (Mrotek) Tomczak in Marshfield. She graduated from Abbotsford High School in 2013. Torrie was outgoing and especially enjoyed the outdoors. She loved the water and the beach, hunting, fishing, music and loved animals. Torrie also enjoyed riding motorcycle with her grandfather.

 

Torrie is survived by her parents: Lannie and Beth Tomczak of Owen; her brother, Yukon of Owen; her paternal grandparents, Mike and Kathleen Tomczak of Owen; her maternal grandmother, Sue Zimmer of Poniatowski. She is further survived by aunts and uncles: Dean (Vickie) Tomczak of Withee, Duane Tomczak of Edgar and Tracy Harbaugh of Sheboygan; many cousins, other relatives and many friends.

 

She is preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Jeff Zimmer.

Family and friends are welcome from 4:00pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, April 17, 2015 at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford and from 10:00 am until time of services on Saturday at the church. Burial will be in the Abbotsford Public Cemetery following the service.

 

Phyllis was born on September 14, 1927, the daughter of Donald and Mildred (Boyce) May in Syracuse, New York. She attended schools in New York and was a graduate of Dobbs Ferry High School in Dobbs Ferry, New York.

 

Phyllis was united in marriage to Robert Buchholz on August 4, 1950 in Ironwood, Michigan. She drove school bus for the Abbotsford School District for 20 years, hauling special needs and kindergarten children. In her free time she enjoyed knitting, gardening,tending her flower gardens and playing bingo.

Phyllis was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Colby.

 

Phyllis is survived by her children; Dale Buchholz of Poynette, WI, Steve (Sue) Buchholz of New Franken, WI, Cathy Buchholz of Abbotsford, WI, Alan Buchholz of Colby, WI, Carol Buchholz of Abbotsford, WI and Kevin (Alice) Buchholz of Colby, WI, 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

 

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; her parents, her sister; Ginny Maccoff and a grandchild; Shawn Buchholz.

Mildred A. Juedes, age 87, of Colby, passed away on Friday, April 10, 2015 at the Golden Living Center-Continental Manor in Abbotsford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 17, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Colby. Father Daniel Hackel will officiate. Interment will be held at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Colby. Family and friends are welcome from 9:30 AM until time of service Friday at the church. There will be a rosary service at 9:00 AM.

 

Millie was born on June 11, 1927, the daughter of Leo and Hildagard (Ohlinger) Apfelbeck in Colby. She attended grade school in the Town of Hull. Millie helped on the family farm as a young child, times were tough when she was young, so she traveled to Chicago with her sister as a teenager and they got jobs as housekeepers, until World War II started, then she worked in a plant assembling radios. They would come home to help on the farm often. When she was 18, she met her husband at a local dance, at home in Wisconsin.

 

Millie was joined in marriage to Raymond Juedes on June 8, 1948 at Saint Mary’s Catholic Church in Colby at the age of 21. Raymond and Mildred owned and operated a farm in the Township of Little Black. Millie had a beautiful flower and vegetable garden on the farm which she enjoyed taking care of, along with raising chickens and cows. Upon retiring, Millie and Ray moved to Colby and Millie worked at Mr. B’s restaurant in Abbotsford, busing tables.

 

Millie enjoyed gardening, cooking, painting ceramics, sewing, cross stitch, crocheting, embroidery, playing bingo, doing word searches and watching the Green Bay Packers on television.

 

Millie was a member of the Bruckerville Homemakers Club and the Sacred Heart Catholic Order of Foresters in Stetsonville.

 

Millie is survived by her children: Ronald (Roberta) Juedes of Medford, Sally (Jim) Weinfurter of Pittsville, Roger (Rita) Juedes of Stetsonville, Robert Juedes of Eau Claire, Susan Juedes of New Hope, MN, Russell (Sharon) Juedes of Stetsonville, Marlene (William) Juedes of Basel, Switzerland, Patsy (Brian) Juedes-Fulk of Scottsbluff, NE, Richard (Karen) Juedes of Wausau and Margaret (Greg) Lauderdale of Bloomington, MN, 19 grandchildren and 11great-grandchildren, sisters: Monica Biter of New Auburn and Genny (Alvin) Abegglen of Stetsonville, and a brother: John (Wanda) Apfelbeck of Peck, ID. She is further survived by her sisters-in-law: Elaine Tessmer of Dorchester and Audrey Juedes of Abbotsford.

 

Millie was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Raymond on June 14, 2011, siblings: Francis Apfelbeck, Mary Butencheon, Stella Dobner, Joseph Apfelbeck (in infancy), Adeline Dahlke, Pearl Nosbisch, Theresa Rindt and Leo Apfelbeck Jr.
