Ronald D. Dake, 75, of Stetsonville, passed away Sunday, September 9, 2018 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.

  Cremation Rites have been accorded, and a memorial service will held at 11:00 AM, Thursday September 13, 2018 at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Stetsonville. Pastor Richard Russow will officiate. Visitation will be held at the church Thursday morning from 9:00 AM until the time of services. Burial will be held at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery at a later date.
  Ron was born June 5, 1943 in Milan, WI to Archie and Florence (Lueck) Dake. He attended Medford High School. He married Carol L. Riemer on October 18, 1965 in Chicago, IL. Carol survives.
  He is further survived by his children: Tammy(Robert) Olwell Ogema, Robin (Kevin) Robida, Steven Dake, Jason (Rebecca) Dake all of Medford, 11 Grandchildren, 5 Great Grandchildren; brothers, David “Pink” (Patricia) Dake of Medford, Allen “Rusty” (Linda) Dake of Stetsonville, and several nieces and nephews.
  Ron drove truck and worked in the factory at Hurd Window Company. He retired from there after 43 years in 2008. He enjoyed camping, mowing and keeping his lawn immaculate, wood working, feeding birds, gardening, hunting, smelt fishing and watching the Packers and Brewers. He was a member of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church in Stetsonville.
  He loved his family, especially all of his grandchildren, and enjoyed attending all of their sporting events.

  Leo A Poehnelt, age 94 of Abbotsford, passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at the Waterford in Colby under the tender care of Aspirus Hospice, surrounded by his family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at Saint Bernard’s Catholic Church in Abbotsford. Father Tim Oudenhoven will officiate. Interment will follow at the Abbotsford Public Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome from 4:00 until 8:00 pm on Friday, September 14, 2018 at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford with a rosary service at 7:30 pm and from 9:30 am until the time of mass on Saturday at the church.

  Leo was born on August 30, 1924, the son of Carl and Mary (Ramskugler) Poehnelt. He attended Pleasant Heights School in Medford. He was united in marriage to Lita Oelke on November 13, 1948 at the Holy Rosary Rectory in Medford. Leo farmed in Dorchester and drove milk truck for a number of years before moving to Abbotsford where Lita and Leo purchased a gas station which became Leo’s 24 hour Service, retiring in 1981. In his retirement Leo worked for Carquest in Abbotsford until the age of 88.
  Leo was a man of strong faith and devoted to his family. He was a member of Saint Bernard’s Catholic Church in Abbotsford. Leo enjoyed gardening, playing  sheepshead and dominos.
  Leo is survived by his six children: Cheryl (Garrett) O’Reilly of East Troy, Karen LaPine of Abbotsford, Allen (Judy ) Poehnelt of Medford, David (Linda) Poehnelt of Marshfield, Dawn (Gene) Allar of Spencer and Mark Poehnelt of Madison; 9 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his sister: Christina Pillar of Medford, sister-in-law: Catherine Poehnelt of Marshfield, a brother-in-law: Leland (Sharon) Oelke of West Bend and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

  John L. “Jack” Kaudy, age 96 of Stetsonville, died peacefully on Sunday, September 9, 2018, at Winter Haven Assisted Living in Marshfield where he resided for the past year.

  A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 215 South Washington Avenue, Medford, WI at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 15, 2018, with Father Phil Juza officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in Neillsville City Cemetery.

A rosary service will start at 8:30 a.m. and visitation for family and friends will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the church on Saturday.

  Jack was born on July 31, 1922, in Neillsville, WI to Lewis and Elsie (Metcalf) Kaudy. He graduated from Neillsville High School and worked odd jobs before enlisting in the United States Army in March of 1943. Jack proudly served his country during World War II as a paratrooper in the 517th Regiment Combat Team. During the Southern France invasion of 1944, Jack subsequently received his honorable discharge and was awarded the Purple Heart.

  Upon returning to Wisconsin, he worked in Wausau where he met and married his wife Delores Orlikowski in 1948. The young couple moved to Baraboo where Jack worked for the Wisconsin Highway State Patrol. He eventually moved his family to Stetsonville where they lived for the next 65 years. After leaving the state patrol, Jack worked throughout the state of Wisconsin on road construction. In 1960 his career path led him to a job with Neuendorf Transportation Company where he worked for several years. Weather Shield Manufacturing was also part of his working career, finally retiring in 1990.

  Survivors include his children, Mary Wojtowicz of Roseville, MN, Diane Dittrich of Medford, Jeanette Kaudy of Marshfield, Jim (Sue) Kaudy of Hewitt, WI, and Susie Hubbard of Medford; his grandchildren, Lisa, Wendy, Angela, Kelly, Jessica, Lindsey, Shelby, Amy, JD (Bud), Carly, and Maxwell; his great-grandchildren, Jack, Spencer, Keegan, Ava, Lillian, Grace and Tommy.

  He was preceded in death by his wife Delores, a daughter, Jane Kaudy Marx, and a sister Marie Conway.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, pontooning, and in his younger days, motorcycling.

  Marvin Herbert Liske, 93, of Medford, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at his home.

  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 18 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford, with Father Phil Juza officiating. Burial and graveside military rites performed by the Medford Area Military Honors Team, to be followed at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery, Medford. Visitation to be held from 9:30 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. at the church that same day.
Pallbearers are Sam, Lucas, Christopher and Chad Liske, Casey and Kyle Daneen and Tyler Raab. Hemer Funeral Service in Medford assisted the family.
  Marvin was born on December 30, 1924 in the Township of Browning to Emanuel and Mary (Frey) Liske. He was a graduate of Medford Middle School. He was a US Army veteran of WWII having served as an airplane mechanic in Germany. He worked for Strebig Auto in Medford after his return. On June 13, 1953 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in the Township of Greenwood, he married Lucy Matyka and she preceded him in death on June 9, 2017 . In 1964, he started Liske Marine and was a successful businessman selling snowmobiles, motorcycles, ATV's and outboards until he retired. Even though, he was known to still come into work almost every day.
  He enjoyed piloting planes and racing snowmobiles (when he was younger), waterskiing (into his 80’s), bowling, hunting, spending time at the lake and being with family and friends. He was a Medford Lions member for many years and was excited to participate in the Never Forgotten Honor Flight to Washington D.C. in April. Marvin was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford Knights of Columbus, Medford American Legion and VFW Clubs & the NRA.

  Marvin is survived by his sons, George, John and Peter (Corinne), all of Medford; daughter, Lisa (Todd Campfield) Raab of Wausau; son-in-law, Dan Deneen of Pewaukee; his brothers Alvin Liske of Medford and Roland (Ila) Liske of New Berlin; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
  Along with his wife, Marvin is preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Mary Deneen in 2003; brothers: Edmund and Raymond Liske; sisters: Lillian Wanker, Helen Miller, and Ester Billows.

  RICHARD F. WROBEL, SR., age 92, of Withee, peacefully passed away at home on Saturday, September 15, 2018.  Funeral services will be held at 10am on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Church, in Lublin.  Rev. Marion Talaga will officiate, and burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be his granddaughters: Michele DuBois, Lisa Peterson, Sara Gornicke, Heidi Baka and Maggie Wrobel.  Military rites will be conducted by the Lublin American Legion Post #547.  Visitation will be held at the church, on Wednesday, from 9am until time of service.

     Richard Frank Wrobel was born on December 11, 1925 in Chicago, IL, to Frank and Katherine (Radon) Wrobel.  He was raised and received his education in the Chicago area, where he graduated from high school.  After high school, Richard enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Bouganville.  He attained the rank of Quartermaster 3C and was honorably discharged in 1946.  He returned to Illinois and was united in marriage to Harriet Mary Judycki on November 25, 1950 at St. Blase Catholic Church in Argo, IL.  They lived in the Chicago area, where Richard worked for the Wrisley Soap Company, Motorola, and O'Boys.  In 1969, they moved to Withee, WI and Richard worked for the Teledyne Post Company, in Owen, until retiring in 1989.
     He enjoyed spending his free time with his family and friends, loved reading, watching Westerns, playing cards, building models and sweet treats.
     Richard was a member of St. Mary's Polish National Catholic Church, and the Lublin American Legion Post #547, where he served as the chaplain from 2001 to 2011.
     He will be dearly missed by his wife, Harriet, of Withee; his children: Christine (Dave) Konieczny of Medford, Richard, Jr. (Peggy) Wrobel of Thorp; 5 granddaughters; 8 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
     Richard was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter: Virginia "Ginger" Zaidel on September 6, 2014; his step-mother: Emily Whitenick; one brother: Raymond Wrobel; and one sister: Frances Nizolek.

  Roger D. Frane, age 65, of rural Curtiss, passed away with his loving family by his side on Friday, September 14 2018 at his home under the tender care of hospice.

Family and friends are welcome from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 18, 2018 at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford.  Interment to follow at the Pine Hill Cemetery in the Town of Mayville. 

  Roger was born on September 9, 1953, the son of Donald and MaryAnn (Michlig) Frane in Marshfield.  He attended St. Mary's Catholic School and graduated from Colby High School.  On September 15, 1978, Roger was united in marriage to Laura Hawkey. 

  Roger owned the Railroad Antique Mall in Marshfield.  He had a green thumb and loved plants and gardening.  Roger also loved the outdoors, watching and feeding the birds with his many birdhouses.  He also collected McCoy Pottery since he was a young man.

  Roger is survived by his wife of 40 years, Laura; three children:  Cindy (Diana Bacon) Frane of Monticello, Lisa Frane/Balderas of Dorchester and Eric Frane of Owen; one grandson, Derek Balderas of Abbotsford.  He is further survived by nine brothers and sisters:  Gene (Barb) Frane, Gary (Yvonne) Frane, Allen (Carol) Frane, Darlene (Dan) Schneider, Karen Jakel, Joe (Linda) Frane, Janice (James) Kilty, Julie (Sergio) Navarro and Cathy (Joe) Clement; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

  He was preceded in death by his parents.

  Donald "Jake" E. Hedler, age 90, of Colby, passed away on Friday, September 14 2018 at Dycora Transitional Living in Abbotsford with his loving family by his side.

  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Saint Mary Help of Christian Parish in Colby. Father Timothy Oudenhoven will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.  Family and friends are welcome from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the church. 

  Jake was born on March 13, 1928, in the Town of Reseburg, to Fred and Helen (Jarocki) Hedler.  He attended the country school in the area and graduated from Thorp High School in 1946. 

  Jake came to Colby in 1946 along with his brother Wilfred and operated the IGA Grocery Store for 2 years.  He was united in marriage to Dolores Firnstahl  at St. Mary's Catholic Church on May 20, 1950.  Then his brother Clarence came and was with Jake until 1955.

  He sold the inventory and moved to Westmont, IL for a year then came back to Colby and purchased the store on Main Street from Isadore Firnstahl.  He then stayed in the business for 50 years.  All five daughters enjoyed working alongside their father. In 1973, he built a new store on Highway 13.  He enjoyed the work but "loved" the people more.  He greeted everyone with "Hello" and "Thank You Folks".

  Jake was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church: was a Eucharistic Minister for many years, was on the St. Mary's Council for 15 years, and was the President and Vice President for the council.  He was on the fire department for 37 years, the ambulance for 10 years, and the president and Vice President for the Chamber of Commerce.  He was also a member of the KC's, Co. Chairman of Colby Cheese Days for 24 years with Doc Fults, then the chairman for 3 years.  He was the citizen of the year in 1983.  After retirement he worked for the Fertilizer Plant in Unity and for Smith Brothers Meats in Colby.  

  Jake enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, bowling, horseshoes, the Packers, planting trees and yard work.  But he liked working the best! and being with his family.  He has 14 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. Jake donated a kidney to his grandson, Wesley Gay in 1991.

  Jake is survived by his wife of 68 years, Dolores; four daughters: Judy (Dick) Martineau of Chippewa Falls, Kim (Robert) Will of Colby, Lauri (Richard) Weber of Colby and Donna Scholl of Medford; a son-in-law, Dennis Engel; 14 grandchildren: Erin (Tim) Brunke of Chippewa Falls, Adam (Ann) Zenner of Eau Claire, Josh (Melissa) Zenner of Colby, Angela Engel of Colby, Kristen (Rob) McMahon of Stoddard, Megan (Nick) Becker of Bryce Prairie, Shane (Wendy) Will of Wausau, Jessica (Jeff) Vandenburg of Greenville, Trisha (Derik) Nemke of Hatley, Bonnie Fagan of Eau Claire, Travis (Linda) Gay of Eau Claire, Nicholas (Desi) Gay of Owen, Courtney Scholl of Medford and Kirsten Scholl of Eau Claire and 29 great-grandchildren.   Dorothy B. Olson, 91, of Rib Lake, passed away Saturday September 15, 2018 at Rib Lake Health Services.

  A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 AM, Tuesday September 18, 2018 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Rib Lake. Father Otto Bucher will officiate.   Dorothy was born April 10, 1927 in Rib Lake to Charles and Emily (Kiska) Polacek. She attended Fawn Valley Grade School and was a 1945 graduate of Rib Lake High School. She married Harry B. Olson on November 9, 1946. Harry precedes her in death.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her Parents, Husband, 2 infant sons, 2 infant grandchildren, Granddaughter Barbara Deuster, Siblings Tom Polacek Sr., James Polacek, Charles “Bud” (Justine) Polacek and Sister in Law Mary Polacek and Son in Law Gil Gilbertson.

  Dorothy  worked for Golden Living in Rib Lake for 11 years in the laundry department. She then went on to work for Gem Products for 3 years. She took most pride and joy in serving as the crossing guard for the schools in Rib Lake. In her retirement, she worked at Little Bohemia.

  She enjoyed knitting, and always looked forward to making lap robes to give away at the Lions Club dinner every Christmas. She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

  She was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, where she served as a Eucharistic minister and greeter, and the Rib Lake American Legion Auxilliary.

  Evelyn M. Ross, 91, of Medford, passed away on Friday, September 14, 2018 at Aspirus Care and Rehab.

  Evelyn was born on February 8, 1927 to Joseph and Selma (Borman) Hartman in Medford, WI. She attended Medford area grade schools. She married Willis T. Ross on July 3, 1946; he preceded her in death on October 31, 2012. Together Evelyn and Willis worked on the homestead, where she was also a homemaker. They also owned and drove bus for 27 years.

  In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking and cooking, and picking berries.

  Evelyn was a long time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

  Evelyn is survived by her children, Gary (Marsha) Ross of Owen, Ronald (Shelly) Ross of Eau Claire, Bruce (Sandra) Ross of Medford, and Joanne (Neil) Wegerer of Westboro; 11 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. She is further survived by her sisters, Dottie Clark of Medford, Marcie Poirier of Medford, Betty Huebner of Colorado Springs, CO, and Sister Marie Hartman of Milwaukee and sister in law Connie Schmidt of Stetsonville.

  In addition to her husband and parents Evelyn is preceded in death by her brothers, Ray, Clint, Bud, and Lester, and sister Mable Zenner.

  A Funeral Mass will take place at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church with Father Phil Juza officiating. Burial will take place at a later date.   Mary Jo Poncek, 42, of Westboro, passed away Wednesday September 12, 2018 at the Aspirus Medford Hospital.

  A Memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday September 19, 2018 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Rib Lake. Father Otto Bucher and Deacon Mark Priniski will officiate. Visitation will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church from 10:00 until the time of Mass at 11:00.
Mary Jo was born December 15, 1975 in Tomahawk, WI to Donald Jr. and Eileen (Foley) Biermann. She is a 1994 graduate of Rib Lake High School. She married Thomas Poncek Sr., on September 11, 1999 at St. Theresa Church in Westboro. Thomas survives.
  She is further survived by her Son: Tommy Poncek Jr. of Westboro, Mother Eileen Biermann Rib Lake, Sisters: Shannon (Marty) Annala of Athens, Sarah (Ray) Komerack of Ogema, Nieces and Nephews: Alyssa and Brianna Schellin, Zachary, Kellie and Jakob Annala, and many other extended family members including Brothers and Sisters in law, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and nieces and nephews in Minnesota and Wisconsin.
  Mary Jo is preceded in death by her Father Donald, Jr., Grandparents Wayne and Sally Biermann, Francis and Louise Foley, Parents in Law Joseph and Eleanor Poncek, and several other brothers and sisters in law.
  Mary Jo attended UW Marathon, where she played basketball. She then transferred to NTC Wausau where she graduated from for Registered Nurse. She worked at St. Josephs Hospital in Marshfield for twelve years and then went on to work at the Flambeau Hospital in Park Falls in their ER and ICU departments.
  She was a 3rd Generation Nurse, following in the footsteps of her Grandmother Louise Foley, Mother Eileen Biermann, and passed on her passion of nursing to her Son Tommy, which makes them a 4th Generation family of Registered Nurses.
  Mary Jo loved her five dogs and she treated each and every one of them like her they were her children. She was very close with her family and cherished every moment spent with them, especially summer days swimming in her pool with everyone. 
  She was of the Catholic Faith, and a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Rib Lake.

  Donna Jean Schluter Parker, 88, of Owen, WI died on Tuesday, September 18th at her home under the care of Hope Hospice.  

  A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Sunday, September 30th at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Withee with the Rev. Tom Myhre officiating.  Friends are invited to celebrate Donna’s life with her family immediately following the funeral at the Meadowview Golf Course in Owen, until 5:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be given to St. John’s Church in Withee WI in Donna’s name.  

  Donna was born on June 17, 1930 to Elmer and Lillian (Mohr) Ellis in Rock County, WI.  She graduated in 1948 from Janesville High School.  

  She is survived by daughter, Sandy (Mike) Sobzack of Sarasota, FL; daughter-in-law, Sue (Larry) Sholes of Owen, grandchildren/great grandchildren, Heather (John) Simpson of Eagan, MN and daughter Kristine Simpson of St. Paul; Becky Sholes of Roberts, WI; Brad (Anne) Sholes and daughters Hadley and Grace of Caledonia, IL; Brian (Nicole) Sholes and daughter Beatrice of St. Paul, MN; brother, Elmer “Kete” (Darlene) Ellis of Janesville, WI; two sisters in law, many nieces and nephews and family members of deceased husband, Harold Parker.  

  Donna was preceded in death by her three husbands, Ken Sholes, Janesville WI in 1962, Len “Whitey” Schluter, Owen WI in 1975 and Harold Parker, Owen WI in 2013; two sons, Larry Sholes, Owen WI in 2013; Bob Sholes, Medford WI in 2018; great grandson Zachary Sholes, Medford WI in 1994, parents and siblings Charlotte Ellis, Earnie (Jean) Ellis, Louise (Donald) Shekels, Orville (Marilyn) Ellis, Gilbert (Marilyn) Ellis, all of Janesville, WI.

  Anna Maire Lukes, 87, passed away at her home on Wednesday, September 19th, 2018.

  She was born on April 17th, 1931 in Medford.  She was the daughter of Frank and Theresa Kraemer.  Anna attended the Catholic school in Medford and later studied to become a nun.  She met Donald Lukes and married him in 1949.  They spent many years farming near Catawba.  She later went on to work in nursing homes and home health care, until the age of 71.

  Her hobbies included playing dice, crafts, reading, sewing and knitting.

  She is survived by 2 daughters: Karen Lukes of Ogema and Theresa Lukes of Prentice and 3 sons: Chuck Lukes, Frank Lukes and Paul Lukes all of Ogema.  She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.  She is further survived by 5 brothers and 2 sisters.  She was preceded in death by her parents and 5 brothers.

  Angela R. Covert, 37, of Medford, passed away on Friday, September 21, 2018 at home surrounded by her family and loved ones.

  Angela was the loving mother of Isaiah, Jordan, Nathan, and Lily Covert, precious daughter of Lou and Edie Gorenc, and treasured sister of Nathan (Amy) Gorenc and Ashley (Erich) Klett. She is further survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, niece, nephews, and other friends.

  Funeral services for Angela will be held on at 12:00 NOON Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at River of Hope Church, 1129 W Broadway Ave. Medford, WI 54451, with Pastor Joshua Kohl officiating, burial will follow at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, September 26, 2018 at River of Hope Church from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 12:00 NOON.

  A memorial service will also take place in Milwaukee at a later date.

  Eleanor V. Riber, age 104, passed away peacefully at her home in Fort Pierce on September 2, 2018.
  A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 29, 2018, at Maurina Schilling Funeral Home in Owen.  Pastor Asafa will be officiating.  Inurnment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, 
  Eleanor was born in Duluth, Minnesota, and lived in Owen, Wisconsin for many years before relocating to Fort Pierce, Fl.  She graduated from Withee High School in Withee, Wisconsin and went on to work for Teldyne Post Company. Eleanor was a charter member of Friends of the Old School, and a member of 1st Congregational Church in Owen, WI since 1936. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
  Eleanor is survived by her son Thomas C. Riber, and his wife Laurie; grandson Michael Niemi; and great-grandchildren Ryne and Macy Niemi; and sister Kathryn Cross. 
  She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Carl Riber; her daughter Sue Niemi; and sisters Marjorie Czeshinski and Marguerite Prill.

  Hilarion J. "Mick", "Hurricane" Michlig, age 86, of rural Dorchester, passed away with his loving family by his side on Tuesday, September 25 2018 at Aspirus Medford Hospital.

  A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, September 28, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church in Abbotsford.  Rev. Marcia Thomas will officiate.  Family and friends are welcome from 11:00 a.m. until time of service Friday at the church.  Military Honors provided by the Dorchester American Legion Post #517.  

  Mick was born on May 12, 1932, the son of John and Catherine (Handrick) Michlig in the Town of Castle, Marathon County.  He served in the U. S. Air Force from 1951-55, stationed in Germany and France.  On April 18, 2016, Mick was honored to be part of the Honor Flight.  On November 14, 1956, Mick was united in marriage to Betty Morgan.  They later divorced.  On November 14, 1987, Mick was united in marriage to Ramona (Langhoff) Kittel in Abbotsford. 

  Mick worked in Milwaukee, All Metal Stamping in Abbotsford, Spencer lumber yard, Bowen Hardware in Curtiss and owned Michlig's Pit Stop in Curtiss.  He was a mechanic and worked on small engines.  His passion was racing stock cars and snowmobiles.  Mick enjoyed NASCAR, the Packers, fishing, hunting, camping, playing cards and boating.  His favorite saying was "what a guy could do" before he started any project.

  Mick is survived by his wife, Ramona of Dorchester; two children: Theresa (Jeff) Thorson and Mark Michlig, both of Curtiss; four step-children:  Laurie (Kevin) Michlig of Colby, Jeff Kittel of Loyal, Joanne (Scott) Zettler of Abbotsford and Julie (Thomas) Neubauer of Loyal; four grandchildren: Josh (Sarah) Michlig of Kewaskum, Natalie (Paul) Hazuga of Stanley, Matthew (Amy) Thorson of Milan and Catherine Michlig of Bruce; several step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren: Eli, Easton, Elexis Hazuga, Isaac and Erin Michlig, Olivia and Charlotte Thorson; and many step-great-grandchildren.  He is further survived by his brother, David (Beverly) Michlig of Colby; a sister-in-law, Doreen Michlig of Colby; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

  He was preceded in death by his parents; his ex-wife, Betty; two brothers, Jerome and Lavern Michlig; two sisters, Lorraine Ewert and MaryAnn Frane and a step-granddaughter, Christina Michlig.

  Victor R. “Slick” Zirngible, 92, of Medford, passed away Friday September 28, 2018 at his home, under the care of Hope Hospice and Palliative Care.
 

  A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday October 3, 2018 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Medford. Rev. Steve Rutter will officiate. Burial will follow at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II, with military honors being rendered. Visitation will be held Tuesday October 2, from 4-7:00 PM at Hemer Funeral Home, Medford Chapel and also at Church Wednesday morning from 10 AM until the time of the service.

  Victor was born November 18, 1925 in the Town of Little Black to Alex and Theresa (Rudolph) Zirngible. He attended Holy Rosary Catholic School. He married Elsie Krueger on August 2, 1947 in Abbotsford, WI. Elsie precedes him in death.

  He is survived by two sons: Craig (Jeanne) and Dale (Ruth) Zirngible all of Medford, Grandchildren: Scott, Lynn (Mike), Steve, Eric, Chip, Katy (Scott) Alex, Emily, Ray, Great Grandchildren: Ashalyn and Kason, Siblings: Alvin “Speed” Zirngibl of Phillips, Marcella “Sally” Ziemer of Shell Lake, Sister in Law Carol (Edward “Hink”) Spencer of Laona, and numerous nieces and nephews.

  In addition to his wife and parents, Victor is preceded in death by a daughter, Jill, granddaughter, Jesse, and brothers Albert, Clarence, and Eugene.

  Victor served in the US Navy, and was the head cook on a transport ship. He is a Pacific War Veteran.      After returning from the war, he worked for O and N Lumber in Medford. In 1959, he and Elsie started Stetsonville Lumber, which was owned and operated by him until 1987.

  He enjoyed going to his cabin on Pier Lake in the Township of Lynn, hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, four wheeling, bowling and playing cards. He was an avid Wisconsin sports fan and an outdoorsman. He always looked forward to and enjoyed taking trips out west to hunt, and traveling to Canada to fish.

  Victor loved his family, especially all of his grandchildren.

  He was a member of the Medford VFW, where he served as Post Commander from 1958-1959, Stetsonville American Legion, and St. Paul’s Lutheran Church where he was President and councilman, Taylor County Sportsman’s Club, and the Chequamegon Spur Time Club.

  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Victor can be designated to the  American Legion Post # 147 - Veterans Memorial Flag Field.
