Alfred "Butch" Buyatt

Alfred “Butch” Buyatt, 90 of Jump River died Saturday, October 18,

2014 peacefully at his home under the care of Hope Hospice.

 

He was born on December 24, 1923 at home in Jump River to the late
Syrvie and Alfa (Oleson) Buyatt. Butch attended area schools there
and entered the Military during WWII. He was in the Marines until
1946. After his service time he married Hilma Ilene Dickerson in
Sheldon on August 12, 1946.

 

The couple lived in Waukesha and he was a truck driver for RoxO
Beverages. Butch was a “Jack of all trades” and after driving truck
the couple later moved back “home” to Jump River. Butch was the
care taker at the Country Club Golf Course in Boulder Junction for a
couple of years until his full retirement. Then Butch worked at the
Jump River Community Center and volunteered at the Mt. Nebo
Cemetery. He was a member of New Hope Presbyterian Church-
Hannibal, the V.F.W., the Jump River Lions, enjoyed fishing, was an
avid deer hunter and liked watching all sports.

 

He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Hilma, sons, Douglas (Dolly)
Buyatt of Deerfield, William “Bink” (Chili) Buyatt of Pemberton, NJ,
and Allen (Susan) Buyatt of Waukesha, seven grandchildren, many
great grandchildren, his sister Ardelle Hink of Big Bend. Butch is
preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Bill, Lloyd and Clinton
and sister Betty.

 

A memorial service will be at 11:30 AM on Friday, October 24, 2014
at the Jump River Community Center with Rev. Barry Boyer.
Inurnment will follow in Mt. Nebo Cemetery with full military rites.

 

Visitation will be from 10AM until time of service at the center. Plombon

MARRIAGE: 1st Marriage was in 1960 and later divorced. 2nd Marriage was on Feb 22, 1971 in Marquette, MI to Bernadette F. Kane

 

PRINCIPAL EVENTS IN LIFE: After receiving his teaching degree, Bill taught as an elementary teacher for 1 year at Woodville Rural School. In 1956, He became part of the U.S. Air force where he attained the rank of Master Sergeant and worked as a Weather Forecaster for 22 years until his retirement in 1978. Bill was stationed in Nevada, Tennessee, England, Germany, Taiwan, and lastly, at the K.I. Sawyer Air Force Base in Marquette, MI. After his retirement from the Air Force, he owned the Village Wash Laundromat in Rib Lake for 6 years. He then worked for the ASCS Office as a farm land surveyor for a period of time. Bill then worked for Tombstone Pizza in Medford as an Environmental Control Supervisor until his retirement in 1991. He enjoyed fishing, picking berries, making firewood, being outdoors, gardening, playing cards and he was an avid Packer, Brewer and Dodgers fan. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Ronald W. “Stub” Grambort age 82, of Abbotsford, passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2014 at Pine Ridge Assisted Living Center in Colby. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, October 27, 2014 at Saint Bernard's Catholic Church in Abbotsford. Father Daniel Hackel will officiate. Interment will be held in the Abbotsford Public Cemetery in Abbotsford. Family and friends are welcome on Monday from 9:00 AM until time of service at the church.

 

Ronald was born on May 16, 1932, the son of Walter and Norma (Ryder) Grambort in Marshfield. He attended Abbotsford Public Schools and was a 1950 graduate of Abbotsford High School. On December 13, 1952 Stub was united in marriage to Catherine “Kitty” Froeba at Saint Anthony’s Catholic Church in Loyal.

 

After he graduated from high school Stub worked as a livestock dealer for Christensen- Grambort Livestock and eventually became a partner in the business. Ronald retired in 1992 and moved to Lake Tomahawk and then moved back to Abbotsford in 2013.

 

Stub was a former director for Security State Bank and Mid-Wisconsin Bank.

 

Ronald is survived by his wife; Catherine Grambort of Abbotsford, sons; Gary (Tammy) Grambort of Colorado, Randy (Kathy) Grambort of Abbotsford, Dennis (Lori) Grambort of Minocqua and Jeff Grambort of Abbotsford, sister; Darlene Lamont of Abbotsford, grandchildren; Lindsey (Matt) Ried, Jen (Adam) Sutton, Abby (Travis) Frischman, Jessie Grambort, Clint (Lynn) Grambort, Jason Grambort and Josh Grambort, great-grandchildren; Hunter, Haylee, Peyton, Paisley, Parker, Devon, Trevor, Kaden, Kenzie and Connor.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers; Gerald and James Grambort.

James P. "Jim" Gumz, age 57, of rural Abbotsford, passed away on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Milan. Family and friends are welcome on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford and on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until time of service at the church.

 

Jim was born on May 18, 1957, the son of Harold and Mary (Swobada) Gumz in Wausau. He graduated from Abbotsford High School in 1976. Jim was united in marriage to Grace Marie Fochs on October 22, 1976 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Halder, WI.

 

Jim has been a self-employed farmer since 1981 when he entered a partnership with his brother, Michael. In 2011, he began farming on his own.

 

Jim loved life. He loved working the land, taking care of his cattle and family. Jim liked riding motorcycles and working on them. He enjoyed hunting with his children and neighbors. Jim also liked to play cards and UNO and an occasional game of foosball. Most of all, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

 

Jim is survived by his wife; Grace Gumz of Athens; his three sons: Jacob Robert, Nicholas Charles and Alex James; two grandchildren: Aiden James and Riais Varela; his mother, Mary Gumz. He is further survived by his five siblings: Delmar (JoAnn) Gumz of Wausau, Roger Gumz of Milwaukee, Michael (Sue) Gumz of Athens, Suzie Frane of San Antonio, TX and Patty Monroe of Grand Prairie, TX; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He is loved and will truly be missed.

 

He was preceded in death by his father, Harold.

Clifford was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed woodworking craft work, playing cards, going for drives and spending time with his family.

Lennice S. Gehrke, 100, Colby died Saturday, October 25, 2014 at Colonial Center, Colby.

She was born September 28, 1914 in Hancock, daughter of the late Otis and Mary (Reid) Gray. On April 15, 1937 she married Paul Gehrke at Potter Memorial Church, Hancock. He preceded her in death.

 

Lennie was a homemaker and also farmed with her husband Paul. She enjoyed doing the daily tasks around the farm and loved being outdoors. Some of her interests included fishing, raising her many cats and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

 

Survivors include one son, Dan (Sue) Gehrke, Dorchester, six grandchildren, Bobbie (Brian) Reamer, Shaun Gehrke, Jody (Dawn) Gehrke, Bradley Gehrke, Kathryn Gehrke and Michael Gehrke, nine great grandchildren, Nick, Brittany, Brandon, Cassandra, Ryan, Emily, Cora, Gabe and Sam, and one great grandchild, Zane Gehrke.

 

Besides her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one grandson, Jamie Gehrke.

 

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 1, 2014 at the Colburn-Leola Cemetery, Hancock. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens is in charge of arrangements.      Keith W. Krug, 80, Medford died on Monday, October 27 at his home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 31 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, Medford with Pastor Kris Bjerke-Ulliman officiating. Visitation will be at Our Saviour’s on Thursday evening from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. and from 9:00 – 11 a.m. on Friday. Atkins Northland Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
     Keith was born on March 11, 1934 in Holway to Fred and Myrtle (Larson) Krug. He attended Pine Creek Elementary School and graduated from Medford High School in 1952. After high school he moved to Milwaukee where he worked at Standard Oil for two years before returning to Medford. On October 2, 1954 he married Joan Baumgarter, who preceded him in death on March 26, 1998. He worked at Medford Motors before opening his own mechanic’s garage. He owned two milk trucks with routes in the area and three school buses, contracted by the Medford School District. In 1964, Keith and Joan purchased land on Billings Avenue where they built their home and garage. Keith worked as a mechanic and continued operating school buses before obtaining the entire contract with the Medford School District, which his family continues to operate. He started Krug’s Towing, which he later sold to his son. He also operated Krug Tours and enjoyed traveling with groups around the United States. Keith and Joan were foster parents for Taylor County. Keith was a member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, American Bus Association, United Motorcoach Association, Wisconsin School Bus Association, Wisconsin Motor Coach Association, Wisconsin Towing Association and Good Sam RV Club. Keith was a member of the National Guard for four years.
     Survivors include his children, Jim (Diane), Brian (Jeanne), Barb (Ed), Bob (Karen),and Bruce (Michele); siblings, David (Juanita), Judy (Galen) Nowak, Marian (Ken) Nernberger, Lavonne (Bernard) Dums; brother-in-law, Jim Prell; ten grandchildren, Josh, Craig (Tara), Adam (Chelsey), Mandy, Austin, Sarah, Kenny and Dalton Krug, Emily (Aemus) Balsis, and Kaci (Nick) Klemm. Special foster grandchild, Justin Spanjer; ten step grandchildren, Billie (Brian) Schilling, Aaron (Erin) Day, Ashley Valentine, Brittany Black, Jennifer and David Ridler, Austin and Morgan Salzgeber, and Matt (Chrissy) and Kyle (Ashlee) Rowe; 16 great grandchildren with three on the way.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan; sister, Charlotte Prell; and daughter-in-law, Susy.
     The family would like to thank Wendy Geiger and his sister Marian for their faithful and devoted care given to Keith over the past several years.

Elaine Barbara Lato, 85, formerly of Gilman died
Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Oakbrook Nursing and
Rehab. Center-Thorp. She was born on October 30,
1928 in Chicago, IL. to the late Edward and Elaine
(Mitchell) Holliday. She graduated from Dundee, IL. High
school.

 

On May 28th, 1949 Elaine was united in marriage to
Stanley Lato of Gilman and learned first hand about
dairy farming. The couple with God’s help raise and
educate their six children. They sold their dairy farm to
their son Wayne and his wife in 1987 and retired to their
temporary home in Rice Lake. They then returned to the
Gilman area.

 

Elaine was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary
and a member of SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church.

 

She is survived by her children, Diane (Ernest) Taylor of
Stanley, Katherine (Barry) Glicklich of Chicago, IL,
Jessica Lato of Stanley, Patricia (Paul) Labissoneire of
Milwaukee and Wayne (Karen) Lato of Gilman, 13
grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Elaine is
preceded in death by her parents, husband, Stanley
(2002), daughter Laura and a brother Allen.

 

A memorial mass will be held at 11AM at SS Peter & Paul
Catholic Church-Gilman with Father Manu Sleeva
officiating. Inurnment will follow in the parish cemetery.
Visitation will be from 9:30 until time of service Saturday
at the Church. Plombon Funeral Service assisted the
family with arrangements.

Linda S. Nowaczyk

  This is the funeral notice for Linda S Nowaczyk. She passed away on Nov 1, 2014 after a very long and courageous battle with Leukemia involving many friends and family, which she won but then lost to a complication due to an infection.

  Linda started her inspirational life on Jan 31, 1974. Attended and graduated high school in Drummond WI in 1993. She met the love of her life in the fall of 2002 on a blind date and married Colin Nowaczyk on June 19, 2004 and they lived in Barnes WI where she was very active in the community. She was a member of the Barnes Fire Department. Linda worked at Water Edge Nursing Home for several years as a Certified Nursing Assistant and was very proud to be helping the residents.  

  Linda and Colin along with a couple of their friends have been saving and hauling aluminum cans year around and then they would purchase toys and donate them to the Operation Rudolph program. These toys were given to kids in the Drummond School area so they could get a little something extra, if needed, at Christmas time. Linda always had an inspirational smile and always had time to help someone. She loved to travel, go camping, and fish.
  Linda survived by a her loving husband Colin Nowaczyk, mother Susan Sandor, sisters Theresa (Ron) Wood and Deb ( Chris ) Mahner and brothers Steve Sandor and Mark ( Amanda ) Sandor, mother in law Mary  Nowaczyk and brother in law Bruce ( Kiersten) Nowaczyk.  13 nieces and nephews. She had many great, close friends.  Linda was preceded in death by her father Jim Sandor and father in law Henry Nowaczyk.
  A celebration of life will be held Barnes Community Church with visitation only at 5 – 7 pm on Fri Nov.14th and St Peters Dauby Church on Sat Nov 15th with visitation from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm with Mass to follow. A luncheon will be at the Avalon located 3 miles East on Hwy F.
  Monetary donations in memory of Linda would be preferred in lew of flowers. Linda will be missed by family, many great friends and community members.

Darlene A. (Lulloff) Richards 85, of Black River Falls formerly of Owen and Goodman, entered eternal life on November 4, 2014 at her home surrounded by her family. Her funeral service will be held on Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Saint Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Green Grove at 11 AM. Reverend Dr. Paul C. Hunsicker Sr. will officiate. Visitation will be at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen on Friday, November 7, 2014 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM and at church one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will take place in the Church Cemetery following the service.

 

Darlene was born at home in the town of Hoard to Martha and Bernard Lulloff on December 24, 1928.

 

She graduated from Owen High School in 1947, and from the Medford Teachers College in 1949 and later received a bachelorette from UW Stevens Point in education. Darlene began her teaching career in Goodman, WI, initially teaching middle school, however soon she found her niche as a first grade teacher and taught until she retired in 1986, after 34 years with the Goodman-Armstrong Creek School District.

 

Darlene married Clarence Richards on October 28, 1950 at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church in the Town of Colby. They recently just celebrated their 64th wedding anniversary. Darlene and Clarence moved to Owen in 1986 after their retirement and purchased a 60 acre farm. Darlene and Clarence opened a store in their home called it “Crafts by the Richards,” where they would sell crafts and woodworking projects made by them.

 

Darlene and Clarence shared the skill of collecting maple sap. They would gather, process, and sell their maple syrup. They also enjoyed gardening and selling the fruits of their labor. Darlene and Clarence invested in a time share and would travel around the US, but especially enjoyed Branson, the Poconos and Apple Valley, OH and many trips were made to visit family in Florida and Tennessee.

 

She is survived by her husband : Clarence Richards of Black River Falls, her daughters: Betty (Fred) Dorava of Medford, WI, Pat (Bob) Marx of Rochelle, IL, Kathy (Mike) Cooney of Plymouth, WI and Eileen Cleaver of Black River Falls, her 6 grandchildren: Carol, Julie, Jenny, Stephanie, Neil, and Kristen, 7 great-grandchildren: Casey, Cassidy, Carmen, Aadin, Mason, Soloman, and Lilly, and 1 great-grandchild due in December.

 

Darlene is further survived by a brother; Jim Lulloff of Owen, her favorite four legged friend "Dufus" and many nieces and nephews.

 

She is preceded in death by her parents: Martha and Bernard Lulloff, siblings: Vernard Lulloff, Arlyn “Sonny” Lulloff, Carmen Lulloff, Robert “Bobby” Lulloff, and Helen (Lulloff) Walz and son-in-law; Frank Cleaver.

  Jean Marie Weix, 88, of Medford, passed away on Saturday, November 8th, 2014 at Aspirus Care and Rehab Center in Medford.

  Jean was born on March 18th, 1926 in Glidden, Wisconsin to Peter and Ella (Schraufnagel) Alexander.  

  The family moved to Abbotsford in 1937.  She graduated as valedictorian from Abbotsford High School in 1944.  Jean married Alphonse Weix on October 1st, 1947 in Colby.  Jean worked for many years in the clerical field.  In 1954, they moved to Chicago, working there unitl moving back to the area, where they farmed near Dorchester and then in the Athens area before retiring in the city of Medford in 1973.  She was a member of the Stetsionville Legion Auxiliary.

  Jean is survived by her husband, Alphonse, a brother, John (Trudy) Alexander, several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, and nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Alice Beck.

  Her cremated remains will be buried in Medford Evergreen Cemetary at a later date.  No visitation or service will be held per her request.

  The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Aspirus Care and Rehab Center, Hope Hospice and the Cremation Society of Wisconsin.

She and her husband moved from Milwaukee to Oak Creek, Wisconsin, and in 1991 they returned to her family’s homestead farm in Dorchester, Wisconsin. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, reading, bowling, her Catholic faith and praying the rosary every day.

Jean E. Goessl, age 86, Abbotsford formerly of Dorchester passed away on Monday, November 17, 2014 at the Country Terrace in Abbotsford. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 21, 2014 at Saint Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester. Father Daniel Hackel will officiate. Burial will be held in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday, November 20, 2014 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Dorchester, with a rosary service at 4:00 pm and from 10:00 am until time of services Friday at the church.

 

Jean was born on December 4, 1927 in Clark County, WI, the daughter of Eino and Elsie (Williams) Walkama. She was a 1945 graduate of Owen High School.

 

On June 12, 1945, Jean was united in marriage to Herbert Goessl at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen. The couple took over the family farm in the Town of Hoard and Jean also worked at the Clark County Health Care Center in Owen as a nursing assistant for over 30 years, they moved to the Village of Curtiss in July 1981 and after the death of her husband in 1983, Jean moved to the Village of Dorchester. Jean was a resident of Country Terrace in Abbotsford since September 2013.

 

Jean enjoyed square dancing in her younger years and she also enjoyed gambling, fishing, gardening and spending time at the farm pond, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren.

 

Jean is survived by her children; Richard (JoAnne) Goessl of Withee, William (Debra) Goessl of Xenia, OH, Daniel (Tamra) Goessl of Curtiss and Catherine (Terry) Arndt of Withee, daughter-in-law; Tammy Goessl of Yuba City, CA, 14 grandchildren and 22 3/4 great-grandchildren. Jean is further survived by her sister; Geraldine (Howard) Frane of Colby.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband; Herbert Goessl on April 30, 1983, sons; James and Bruce Goessl and a sister; Mary Miller
