Herman Rabska, age 95, of Owen, passed away on Friday, July 4, 2015 at Whispering Pines Assisted Living in Plover, WI. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 PM on Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Withee. The Rev. Tom Myhre will officiate. Interment will be held in Riverside Cemetery in the town of Hixon. Military Honors provided by the Lublin American Legion Post #547, the Owen American Legion Post #123 and the Owen-Withee Vets Club. Family and friends are welcome 11:00 AM until time of service Wednesday at the church. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen is entrusted with the arrangements.

Herman was born on August 31, 1919 in Withee, WI, to Richard and Emma Rabska. He grew up on the farm in Withee and attended a one room school house in Spring Valley.

In 1947, he married Dorothy Marking, and they made their life in Withee. They raised four children - Karen, Michael, Gregory, and Marlene (Molly). In 2007, they celebrated 61 years of marriage. Herman was a self-employed business man, owning and operating a gravel business, logging, the Rabska Coal Company and later the Rabska Fuel Company. Herman and Dorothy were active in the Withee community and they received Citizens of the Year in 1990. Herman served as Mayor of the Village of Withee for six years, delivered Meals on Wheels, and participated in the Lion's Club and American Legion.

Herman loved fishing, hunting, and playing baseball and softball. He loved the Brewers and Packers and at age 93, attended his first Brewer game. Family was most important to him, and he loved spending time with his grandchildren, Kevin (Lisa) Rabska of Amherst Junction, Cole Rabska (Melissa) of Cable, WI, Cody (Debbie) Rabska of Medford, WI, Kristi (Brendan) Noonan of Chicago, IL, Megan (Matt) Ward of Milwaukee, WI, David Kitze of Denver, CO, Erica Kitze of Denver, CO, and Brooklyn (Mathew) Bulf of Minneapolis, MN. He is further survived by his four children Karen (Mike) Kitze, Gregory (Candace) Rabska, Michael Rabska, and Molly Emmerich; his three great-grandchildren, Cali, Max(Megan) and Courtlyn (Kevin) and his two brothers, Lester of Wisconsin Rapids, and Roger of Milwaukee.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Richard and Emma, his wife; Dorothy, his sister Florence Peterson and his brother Howard Rabska.

Kathryn worked for 29.5 years between the Memorial Nursing Home and Memorial Hospital until her retirement on November 28, 1997. She enjoyed volunteer work at the Medford VFW, embroidering, making jam, canning, cleaning, making homemade donuts and cookies. Kathryn also loved cardinals and Red, White and Blue.

  Arlene R. Webster, 83, of Gilman, died Thursday, July 16, 2015 at the Cornell

Care Center under the care of Hope Hospice. She was born on August 20,
1931 in the Lancaster area the daughter of the late Claude and Elizabeth
(Orr) Wilcox. Arlene’s family moved to the Mt. Hope area when she was five
and she graduated from Mt. Hope High in 1949.
  She married Donald Webster on September 28, 1949 at the Little Brown
Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple farmed in Grant County for seven years
before moving to the Webster home farm in Donald where they owned and
operated a dairy farm for the next 42 years. Arlene also graduated from the
Teacher’s College in Medford in 1967 and Mt. Senario College in Ladysmith
with her teaching Bachelor degree. She taught 3rd grade for 24 years at Lake
Holcombe elementary.
  Arlene traveled extensively taking 25 tours all around the world. She was a
longtime Sunday school teacher for Zion Lutheran Church, a member of the
Red Hat’s Society, the Garden Club and a volunteer at the Gilman library.
  Arlene also enjoyed her summers in Hayward, reading and puzzles.
  She is survived by her children, Linda (Pete) Hinzman of Menomonie, Doug
(Bev Karpinski) Webster of Gilman, Richard (Tammy) Webster of Cornell,
Dennis Webster of Gilman, Susan (Ted) Kotlowski of Hudson, Duane (Amy)
Webster of Ladysmith and Darlene (Jon) Shorougian of Waukesha, 20
grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren with one on the way, one brother, Ivan

  Elsie Mattila Schultz died in her sleep on July 20th at the Lutheran Home in River Falls. Elsie was born February 5, 1920 on a small farm in central Wisconsin (near Owen). Her parents, Victor and Selma Mattila, were born in Finland and came to the U.S. after they were married (early 1900s). Elsie was the second youngest of seven children (one boy and six girls) all born in the U.S. All of Elsie’s siblings and their spouses preceded her in death.

  The Mattila family spoke Finnish at home, but the children learned English at the one-room country school (Hoard Center) they attended. There were eight grades with one teacher and no indoor plumbing. Elsie and her siblings walked to grade school, and later to Owen High School (a distance of 3.5 miles each way). The family milked cows by hand, since they had no electricity.

In 1939, Elsie married a dairy farmer, Clarence (Clarry) Schultz from Curtiss, WI. They spent 61 years on their dairy farm until Clarry died in 2000. Elsie stayed on the farm until the summer of 2004 when she moved to River Falls. She resided at the Wellhaven Senior Apartments for 10 years. After a fall in February 2014, Elsie transitioned to the Lutheran Home. Both facilities were places that felt like home and provided her with new friends, memorable activities, and caring staff.

  Elsie attended college 30 years after graduating from high school. She received her degree in Library Science from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. Elsie worked as an Elementary Librarian in the Owen-Withee School District for 18 years.

  Her strong Christian faith and values were evident in her daily life and allowed her to remain positive, even in adversity. She was an active member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Dorchester, WI and attended Luther Memorial Church regularly after she moved to River Falls.

  Poetry was one of Elsie’s passions. She often wrote poems for special events, anniversaries, and birthdays. Elsie loved being asked to share her creations or recite a poem she had memorized in high school. She willingly recited her poems to others until her passing.Preparing and eating delicious food was a priority for Elsie. Guests never left Elsie’s kitchen until they had sampled everything she had on the table. She was best known for her brownies, apple pies, cinnamon rolls, jams and jellies, garlic dill pickles, apple sauce and more. The garden and apple orchard on the farm provided a bountiful harvest. Coffee with treats at mid-morning and before bedtime was a ritual on the farm.

  Elsie and Clarry had three children. Two sons, David Schultz (Alicia) Arnold, MD and Brian Schultz (Ellen) River Falls. Their only daughter, Diana (Schultz) Beardsley New Haven, CT died in March 2010.

Elsie is survived by five grandchildren: Catherine (Schultz) Wasiuta (Eric) Annapolis, MD, Daniel Schultz (Amanda) Davidsonville, MD, Christopher Beardsley (Allison Young) Brooklyn, NY, Todd Schultz (Kensey) River Falls, and Timothy Schultz (Nicole Gottleib) Chicago, IL. She was also blessed with four great-grandchildren: Julianna and Kate Wasiuta, Tenley Schultz, and Owen Beardsley.

  While small in stature, she had a giant heart!

  Funeral services for Elsie will be at 11:00am, Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Luther Memorial Lutheran Church, River Falls, WI. Burial will be in the Dorchester Memorial Cemetery, Dorchester, WI. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the funeral at the church on Saturday.

  Robert J. Wisniewski, age 76, of Maplehurst, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 20, 2015 at his home.

  Bob was born on February 18, 1939 in the Town of Maplehurst, the son of Lucien and Gabrielle (Kozinski) Wisniewski. He attended Withee schools and enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany for two years. On December 27, 1958, Bob was united in marriage to Darlene Krug at St. Stanislaus Rectory. He had lived in Maplehurst all his life.

  Bob worked for Budrus Feed Mill in Lublin, farmed in Maplehurst and was a CNA at Clark County Health Care Center, retiring at age 65. He was a member of the Lublin American Legion Post #547. Bob enjoyed reading, cooking, canning, puttering around the yard, "work hard, play hard", hunting, fishing and dancing. He loved having parties and hanging out with family and friends, cherished his many nieces and nephews and enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in all their events.

  Bob is survived by his wife, Darlene of Maplehurst; three children: Tammy (Dan) Goessl of Curtiss, Brian Wisniewski of Withee and Allen (Tara) Wisniewski of Withee; seven grandchildren: Jeremy, Russ, Jessica, Gabrielle, Abigail, Brady and Tia; two great-granddaughters: Evelyn and Alainna. He is further survived by five siblings: Bibian Witek of Lublin, Winnie Niznik of Lublin, Jean Lorenz of Thorp, Laurie (Joe) Mrozik of Wautoma and Ben (Cathy) Wisniewski of Thiensville; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Imogene Oberle, 97 of Gilman, passed away peacefully among family on July 20,

2015 at her daughter’s home. She was born on September 29, 1917 in the town of
Thorp the daughter of the late Warren and Euphemia (Smart) Baker. She attended
Stanley schools and graduated from Stanley High. She then became a teacher and
taught in a one room school house.
  On June 14, 1938 Imogene was united in marriage to Leo Oberle at St. Mary’s
Catholic Church in Stanley and they lived in the Thorp area. In 1944 they moved to
Gilman where they farmed until 1972 when they moved to the village of Gilman.
Imogene was a member of Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church, was a member of the
Rosary Society, the women’s guild and taught CCD classes for many years. She
enjoyed playing cards and board games and taking bus trips.
  Imogene is survived by four sons, Richard, Earl (Terri), and Randall Oberle all of
Gilman, Bernard (Pat) Oberle of Cadott, eight daughters, Carol (Mel) Brenner of
North Liberty, Iowa, Arla (Robert) Rains of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Mary (Bill) Maurer and
Lois (Allen) Tietyen both of Milwaukee, Fran Prasnicki, Rita Liazuk and Donna (Tom)
Schmitt all of Gilman, Anita (James) Mnichowicz of Lublin, 33 grandchildren, 38 great
grandchildren, 15 step great grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren, and one
sister, Margaret (Rueben) Schmidt of Phillips. She is further survived by many nieces,
nephews, cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Leo (1978),
her parents, two sons, Dennis and David and three grandchildren, Brian, Ann and
Nicole, one great grandchild, Doran, 3 brothers and 3 sisters.
  Funeral services will be at 11AM on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Saints Peter & Paul
Catholic Church-Gilman. Father Madanu Sleeva officiating. Burial will follow in the
Parish Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30AM Saturday until time of service.

PRINCIPAL EVENTS IN LIFE:She was a sales lady at Marshell Fields, a Red Cross Nurse’s Aide during World War II, worked as an administrative secretary at St. Mary’s Hospital in Chicago and was a High School Teacher’s aide. After moving to Medford in 1971, she was active at Holy Rosary Church, with the hospital auxiliary, the Taylor County Commission on Aging and the city election board. Dorothy was a volunteer with the Red Cross, and Memorial Hospital in Medford. She helped teach Catechism at Holy Rosary Catholic Church. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, playing cards and gardening with her husband. She loved music and playing piano. She especially enjoyed cooking and entertaining guests at her home.

Deana Lee Witte, age 60, passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at the Colonial Center in Colby, WI. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 31, 2015 at First United Church of Christ in Colby. Pastor Teri Hanson will officiate. Interment will be held in the Colby Memorial Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome from 9:00 AM until time of service Friday at the church.   Deana was born on March 27, 1955, she is the daughter of Dean and Doris (Geiger) Witte. She attended and graduated from Colby High School. After high school she continued her education at Wausau Technical College. Deana worked for Data Flow for 35 years until her heart surgery in July of 2009.

  Deana is survived by her parents; Dean and Doris Witte of Colby, 2 sisters; Denise (Al) Bach of Dorchester and Donna (Wayne) Rau of Dorchester, 4 nephews; Preston Rau, Vince (Allison) Rau, Matt (Aimee) Bach, and Luke (Jess) Bach and 2 nieces; Maggie (Andrew) Geiger and Sarah (James) Kosmalski. Deana's cat, Duke will miss her greatly. She will sadly be missed by all her great-nieces and great-nephews.

  She was preceded in death by her sister Debra Witte (May 12, 1956) and her brother David Witte (January 23, 2007).

Marjorie C. Hansen, age 82, of Colby, passed away after a long battle with cancer on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Stoney River Memory Care in Marshfield under the tender care of hospice with her loving family at her side.

  A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at 12:00 PM at Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford. Rev. Mark Neumann will officiate. Family and friends are welcome from 10:00 AM until time of service Wednesday at the funeral home.

  Marjorie was born on December 22, 1932 to Myrtle (Schaefer) and Henry Braun, Spencer. She graduated with the Spencer High School Class of 1951. After high school she worked at Land O’ Lakes for 5 years. She married Raymond Hansen on March 13, 1954 in Unity, WI. She worked at the Golden Living Center in Abbotsford as a cook for 27 years.

  Marjorie was a fun loving and generous person who enjoyed crocheting and traveling around the countryside with her best friend. She was loved by any and all that met her. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

  Marjorie is survived by her Best Friend, Norman Searer of Colby, her children, Garth Hansen of
Abbotsford, Patti (JoJo) Christophersen of Spencer, Thomas (Annette) Hansen of Marshfield, Stacy (Daniel) Otte of Waterloo, WI, and Julie (Kit) Martin of Noblesville, IN; two sisters: Susan Wozniak of Kronenwetter and Audrey Roselle of West Bend. She will be lovingly remembered by her Grandchildren: Meagan Ryan and Samantha Carol Otte, Emily Ray Christophersen, Curtis Hansen Martin, Hannah Annette and Olivia Marie Hansen, along with her Great-grandchildren: Isaac Raymond Montiel, Jaxon Daniel Otte and Lilly Sunshine Gladowski.

  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Raymond Hansen in 1988, her son Michael Hansen in 2006, three sisters: Sandra (Braun) Ritter, Judy (Braun) Hansen and Shirley (Braun) Matheisen and a brother, Ronald Braun.

They then owned a hobby farm in the Township of Greenwood and also owned and operated Smola Brother’s Logging with his brother, George and Smola Trucking until his retirement in 1998.  Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, bowling, dartball and meeting with his friends to play cribbage. He loved being outdoors, nature and wildlife. Most of all Jim enjoyed being with his family and attending and watching his grandchildren’s events.

Dolores "Dolo" Jean Stock, age 83, of Owen, left us July 31, 2015 in her home under the tender care of Hope Hospice, with her loving husband and 8 children by her side. Her family took care of Dolo during her battle with lung cancer.

  A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at 11:00AM at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Owen. Father Janusz Kowalski will officiate. Visitation will be from 9:00AM until time of service on Tuesday at the church. Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Owen is entrusted with the arrangements.

  Dolo was born in Gary, IN on November 5, 1931 to John and Clara (Crystal) Slobodnik. In the mid 1940's her and her family moved to rural Withee. Dolo went to high school in Withee, where she met the love of her life, Herb Stock. They got married in 1950 at the Holy Rosary Church. Together they raised 8 children. She quilted, knitted, crocheted and sewed our clothes for us. Every summer she would make sure the station wagon was filled with food and goodies for the family camping trips.
Dolo had an adventurous spirit. She enjoyed everything; golfing, camping, hiking, gardening, dancing, singing in the choir, playing piano, playing Santa Claus at the nursing home, and volunteering for Christmas Tree Lane. She was full of life. She would do anything if she knew it would bring a person joy and happiness.

  Dolo is survived by her husband, Herb, and 8 children; Terri, Connie, Jacque, Toni, Casey, Kelly, Mike, and Bill. She will be missed dearly by her 10 grandchildren, 16 Great-grandchildren, and 1 Great-great-grandchild. Dolo is further survived by two brothers, Larry and Dick.

  She is proceeded in death by her parents, John and Clara.
Dolo will be remembered as a self-less, loving, and caring person. She brought sunshine wherever she went.
