Arvin Louis Dommer

Arvin Louis Dommer, age 91, of Abbotsford, passed away on Palm Sunday, March 20, 2016 in his home with the comfort of family by his side.  A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 26 at Zion Lutheran Church in Colby, with Rev. Mark Neumann officiating.  Family and friends are welcome for visitation from 11:00 AM until time of service Saturday at the church.  Burial will follow at the Colby Cemetery.  The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is entrusted with the arrangements.

 

Arvin was born on June 11, 1924, the son of Carl and Dorothea (Hahn) Dommer in Hanks, North Dakota.   He returned with his family back to the Clark and Marathon county area in 1929 moving between several locations before the family established their farm east of Colby.  He attended school at Colby High, and graduated in 1942. Arvin and his brothers farmed together raising registered Holsteins for several decades under the name Arlendel Farms.

 

Arvin was united in marriage to Elsie Weis at the Zion Lutheran Church in Colby after a 5 month courtship  The wedding occurred on May 20, 1961 so as to not interfere with spring planting or 1st cutting of hay.   Eleven months later the 1st of 6 children were born:  Shirley, Lorraine, Duane, Carl, Sharon, and Diane.  Arvin enjoyed taking car trips with the family every few years to visit relatives in Georgia, Texas, and North Dakota.  Arvin continued to farm with his children until health issues limited his ability to drive tractors and work in the barn.

 

Arvin was a long-term member of Zion Lutheran Church receiving confirmation in 1938 and then later participating in church functions for many years. After retirement from farming, he and Elsie moved to Abbotsford for the last 5 years.

 

Arvin is survived by his wife of 54 years, Elsie; six children, Shirley (Jim) Walczak of Milwaukee, Lorraine (Francis) Wagner of Abbotsford, Duane (Fiancé Zane Renner) of Cedarburg, Carl of Colby, Sharon (Randy) Jagodzinski of Wausau, and Diane (John) Martin, DVM of Cedar Grove; six grandchildren; Rachel Wagner, Kristin Wagner, Elizabeth Wagner, Andrew Jagodzinski, Allison Jagodzinski, and Jacob Jagodzinski; and three step-grandchildren; Andrew, Kathleen, and Tim Walzcak.  He is further survived by a brother Delphin and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Leona (Dommer) Fechhelm

After he was discharged from the military, he resided in Great Falls, MT for a period of time, then moved to Medford. At the time of his death he was employed by Phillips Plastics Corp. in Medford. He enjoyed hunting, the outdoors, fishing, hanging out with his Marine Corps buddies & spending time with his children.

Kristina Irene Knopp, 20, of Medford, went home to be with her Lord, Wednesday March 23, 2016.

Kristina was born June 12, 1995, in Novocheboksarsk, Russia.

 

When Kristina was 13, she was adopted by the Knopp Family, who brought her to the United States on May 6, 2009. She was a 2013 graduate of Abbotsford Christian Academy, where she will be remembered as a fierce competitor who played basketball and volleyball.

 

Kristina was currently an employee of Phillips Medisize, having previously worked at Northland Outlet and Arbys in Medford. Kristina was a free spirit and a true “people person.” She loved to be surrounded with friends, family and especially little children. Her personality lit up a room, and she never knew a stranger. Kristina could see the good in everyone, and was extremely generous through her gift giving. Through her heart for children and generosity, Kristina helped start two schools for underprivileged children overseas. Kristina attended Abbotsford Evangelical Free Church where she helped in Sunday School, Nursery and the One Way Club, and was a member of L.I.F.T Youth Group.

 

Kristina is survived by her Parents: Richard and Susan Knopp of Medford, Siblings; Samantha (Joel Stark) Knopp of Madison, Jennifer(Chad Tutton) Knopp of Pensacola, FL, Benjamin Knopp of Marquette University, Milwaukee. Grandparents: Ruth Armbrust of Medford, Richard and Barbara Knopp of Sheboygan, Sharon Knopp of Lake Geneva, and many Aunts, Uncles and Cousins. Kristina is further survived by her family in Russia, Father; Alexander Vasilievitch Tarenko, Brothers; Vasiliy and Alexander Tarenko.

 

She is preceded in death by her Grandfather Robert Armbrust, and Russian Mother Irina Kurbatovna Tarenko.

 

Kristina will be greatly missed by her Parents, Brother, Sisters, Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and numerous friends, not only in the United States but all over the world.

 

Funeral services for Kristina will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday March 30, 2016 at the Abbotsford Evangelical Free Church, Abbotsford, WI. Pastors Mike and Bruce Jahnke Will officiate. Private graveside services will be held at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II, Medford, WI. Visitation will be held from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Tuesday March 29, 2016, at Hemer Funeral Home, Medford Chapel, and also from 9:30 AM – 10:45 AM, Wednesday March 30, 2016 at Abbotsford Evangelical Free Church.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Kristina Knopp may be given to Christian Aid Mission, through which Kristina helped at-risk children internationally. PRINCIPLE EVENTS IN LIFE: After High school, James joined the U.S. Navy and served for 4 years before moving to Milwaukee and attending Milwaukee School of Engineering. He then worked at Square-D in Milwaukee for 6years. James returned to Medford for a short period of time before re-enlisting in the U.S. Navy and serving 24 years total until his retirement. After his retirement from the military he returned to Medford. James had a passion for fishing and enjoyed his daily routine.

Mae B. Ridderbush, Age 82, of Colby, passed away while surrounded by her family on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Ministry Saint Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield.

  Her funeral service will be held at 3PM on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Christ Lutheran Church in Abbotsford. Vicar Don Bruce will officiate. Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday at the church from 1:00PM until time of services. The honor of pallbearer belongs to her grandsons: Mike, Steve and Matthew Johnson, Bryan Beck, Christopher Brecke and Michael Perkins and John Beck as an honorary pallbearer. Private committal services will be held at a later date.

  Mae Belle was born on April 9, 1933 in the Town of Holton to Melvin and Leila (Wimer) Bremer. She attended school in Goodrich. Mae was united in marriage to Gene Ridderbush on February 12, 1955 at the Community Evangelical Church in Medford. Mae and Gene owned and operated a dairy farm in rural Abbotsford while raising their five children. Mae was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Abbotsford.

  Her hobbies included word search puzzles, quilting, embroidery, gardening, cooking and canning. She thoroughly enjoyed farming and spending time in the barn with Gene. Upon her retirement from farming she worked at Phillips Plastics in Medford, until 1998. Mae loved spending time with her family especially at family gatherings.

  Survivors include her loving husband Gene Ridderbush of Colby, her five children: Dennis Ridderbush of Mobile, AL, Lynn (Dan) Beck of Phillips, Sherry (Dennis) Johnson of Abbotsford, Pamela (Kenneth) Geiger of Dorchester and Lori (Chris) Perkins of Athens; her sister Avis Lebeicki of LaCrosse and a brother Ronald (Marlene) Bremer of Medford. Mae is further survived by 11 grandchildren: Mike Johnson, John Beck, Steve Johnson, Bryan Beck, Christene  Burg, Matthew Johnson, Jenny Beck, Christopher Brecke, Stephanie Brecke, Michael Perkins and Brittany Perkins and 10 great-grandchildren Megan and Nicole Beck, Olivia and Garrett Burg, Abby, Stella and Natalie Beck, Madisen Johnson and Austin and Zayla Johnson along with other relatives and friends.

  Mae was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Melvin Bremer Jr. and a daughter-in-law Kris Ridderbush.

LARRY D. HERSHBERGER

Age 76 of Rib Lake, former resident of Berlin, WI passed away on March 28, 2016 in Eau Claire after years long battle with heart disease.

  Larry was born on March 25,1940 in Albia, Iowa to Donald and Freda (Stocker) Hershberger. He moved from Iowa at the age of 11 to Wisconsin. Larry graduated from Wautoma High School in 1959. In 1991, Larry moved to Rib Lake and worked for Frank Bieniek for a period of time. He then worked for the Great Northern Cabinetry in Rib Lake before working for Weathershield Mfg. in Medford until his retirement. In his retirement he worked part time for County Market in Medford until ill health forced him to retire completely.
  Services for Larry will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Rib Lake with Father Otto Bucher officiating. Visitation will be held at 9:00 A.M. until time of services at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Rib Lake. Cremainal inurnment will take place at Lakeview Cemetery at a later date.
Per Larry’s request his body has been donated to U.W. Madison for research.
  On October 26, 1968, Larry married Kathleen Trochinski at St. Mark’s Catholic Church in Redgranite, WI and she survives. He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Rib Lake where he was an usher and a counter. Larry was also a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus.
  Before becoming ill, Larry enjoyed wood working, hunting, walking in the woods, watching the wildlife in the yard and mostly enjoying his grandsons.
  He is survived by his wife Kathleen Hershberger of Rib Lake, daughter Shelley (William) Burrier of Bloomer, son Andrew Hershberger of Appleton, grandsons Jakob and Landon Burrier of Bloomer, brothers Milton (Diane) Hershberger, Lonnie Hershberger both of Oshkosh, Thomas Hershberger of Berlin, sisters Maxine (Thomas) Mertens of Berlin, Jane (Dale) Schaumberg of Chippewa Falls and sister-in-law Linda Hershberger of Stevens Point. Larry is further survived by many brother and sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and many many friends.

  He was preceded in death by a daughter Sheila Hershberger, his parents Donald and Freda, in-laws Marcella and Carl Trochinski, brother Donald Hershberger and two sister-in-laws Carol Hershberger and Gail Trochinski.

Eugene "Jack" E. Smazal, age 82, of Unity, passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.  A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford.  The Reverend Sue Eidahl will officiate.  Burial will be held at Colby Memorial Cemetery.  Family and friends are welcome from 4:00 until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, April 5 and from 10:00 AM until time of service Wednesday all at the funeral home.

  Jack was born October 12, 1933, the son of Charles and Clara (Ress) Smazal in Fenwood, Wisconsin.     He was united in marriage to Irene Haas on January 28, 1976 in Waukegan, IL.  Jack worked as a custodian for Monster Hall and Colby Elementary, helped build silos, drove dump truck for Jerome Ruden, hauled truck toppers for Wilderness Campers and drove semi for Morris Mantor and Ernest Carroll

   Jack liked polka music, stock car racing, all star wrestling, watching game shows, taking care of his flower garden, especially geraniums and raising rabbits on his hobby farm.  Most of all, he cherished his family.

   Jack is lovingly survived by his wife of 40 years, Irene Smazal of Unity;  his three children: Betty Smazal of Marshfield, Kelly (Mike) Svoboda of Marshfield and Gene (Gwen) Smazal of Unity; five step-children:  Cindy (Carey) Gosselin of Port Francis, Canada, Dave (GiGie) Harder of International Falls, MN, Michael Harder of Wilmot, ND, Brian Harder of Colby and Wendy (Jim) Blake of Lewiston, ID; seven grandchildren:  Matthew, Nicholas and Dexter Weber, Chrystal North, Noah Kropp, Garrett and Eleanor Smazal; 12 step-grandchildren:  Luther and Jesse Nichols, Paul Harder, Josh and Matthew Harder, Nicole and Megan Harder, Pauline, Chelsea and Nikki Harder, Crystal Skrien and Cory Gosselin; four great-grandchildren:  Mikey and Lexi Weber, Kyra Kramer-Weber and Brooklyn North.  He is further survived by two brothers; Kenneth (Judy) Smazal of Unity and Donald Smazal of Colby; six sisters: Delores Petri of Auburndale, Clara Swanson of Wausau, Beverly Recore of Medford, Jeanette Smazal of Wausau, Marlene Golowski of Omro and Marcella "Sally" Smazal of Colby; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

  He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers:  Charles, Edward, David and Victor and sisters; Bernice, Lucille, Betty, Carol Krueger and Diana and a great-grandson, Zayden.

June M. Severson, age 58, of Loyal, passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at her home.  A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 7, 2016 at Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford.  Pastor Zach Burris will officiate. Family and friends are welcome from 9:00 AM until time of service Thursday at the funeral home.

  June was born on August 16, 1957 in Marshfield, the daughter of Pierce Jr. and Carol (Reinke) Owens.   She graduated from Colby High School in 1975.  June was united in marriage to Richard Lee Severson on August 23, 1975 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Thorp.

  June worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Clark County Health Care Center for 19 years.  She loved her husband, family, gardening and music.

  June is survived by her husband of 40 years, Richard of Loyal; her children: Audrey (Patrick) Hanson of Granton and their children: Lucas, Emily, Isaac, Josiah and Jonathan; Travis (Katie) Severson of Unity and their children: Alexander, Abigail, Trinity, Talon, Zane, Isabelle and Justice; and Rikki (Jason) McGlone of Marshfield and their children: Zachary and Kylie.  She is further survived by her mother, Carol Owens of Colby; her siblings:  Virginia (Steve) Winscher of Mondovi, Mark (Glynis) Owens of El Paso, TX and Lisa (Kevin) Molitor of Colby;  a brother-in-law, Jeff Ohde of Chetek; Mother-in-law and Father-in-law, Helen and Lester Severson of Loyal; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

  She was preceded in death by her father, Pierce Jr.; her two sisters, Linda Ohde and Brenda Owens.

  JOHN J. SAYRE, SR., age 49, of Thorp, WI formerly of Medford, WI, passed away at his home on Tuesday, March 29, 2016.  A Celebration of Life will be held April 15th at the Thirsty Moose in Medford, WI at 5 P.M.
     John Joseph Sayre was born on May 29, 1966 in Chicago, IL to William and Nancy (Gilfilla) Sayre.  He was raised and received his education in Chicago, IL and Alabama.  After completing his education, John worked as a handyman doing remodeling work in Chicago.  He later moved to Bruce, WI and Sheldon, WI, before settling in Medford.  In 2014, he moved to Thorp where he resided until the time of his death.
     He enjoyed riding motorcycle, spending time with his grandchildren, and having family grill outs.
     He is survived by four children:  Richard (Ashlee) Sayre of Marshfield,  John Sayre, Jr. of Merrill,  Joshua Sayre of Medford,  Vanessa (Ted) Bonick of Thorp;  eight grandchildren:  Gabrielle, Bridget, Deven, Lexi, Andre, Drake, Vanessa and Chloe;  two sisters;  four brothers;  several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
     He was preceded in death by his parents.

     There will be no visitation.   There will be no services.

     A Celebration of Life will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, April 15, 2016 at the Thirsty Moose Lodge, in Medford.

In later years he moved to Eau Claire where he worked for REACH. He enjoyed bowling, going for walks, especially around the lake in Rib Lake, jigsaw puzzles, listening to music on his phonograph, playing games with his brother James and going shopping. Rick had a close relationship with his brothers Tom, James and Bob. He was a happy, loving guy who was always willing to help and loved to tease everyone.

After her marriage, they resided at Duncan, AZ, Prescott, AZ and Darlington, WI where she taught physical education while in AZ. They moved to Medford and took over the family oil business for a short period of time. Then they moved to Colorado Springs, CO where she was a health & physical education teacher until ill health. She enjoyed teaching swimming to adults, hiking and traveling.

 

SURVIVING CHILDREN: Zachery (Julie) Brown, Dylan D. Brown and Courtney Marie Brown all of Colorado Springs, CO

While farming, he also worked at Master Package in Owen and Weather Shield Mfg. in Medford until retirement. He enjoyed camping with family, chatting and reminiscing about being in the service, spending time with his grandchildren/great grandchildren, his Thursday night Social Club, and in his earlier years, he liked to hunt and fish.

George Charles Sorensen, 62, Town of Spirit, Ogema, died in the Saint Joseph Hospital in Marshfield on Monday, April 4, 2016.

  He was born on August 11, 1953, in Evergreen Park, Illinois, the son of Allen and Marie Sorensen. He was married to Laura Polansky in Markham, Illinois, on April 26, 1991. He worked as an over-the-road truck driver for firms based in Illinois and Wisconsin, and in latter years as a truck driver for Weather Shield Manufacturing INC of Medford. In his years of trucking he was awarded many safe driving awards. In his free time he enjoyed his animals, especially his dogs and horse, and he enjoyed the outdoors, planting trees, enjoying the woods, and developing his property.

  He is survived by his wife, Laura; by four children, Jeremy (Lauren) Adema, Tampa, FL, Michael (Megan Dickey) Polansky, Aurora, IL, Mell (Ted Retzlaff) Polansky, Catawba, and Peter (Krista) Polansky, Prentice; by two grandsons, George and Gavin; by four brothers, Bobby, Tommy, Ricky, and Paul; and by one sister, Theresa. He is preceded in death by one brother, Allen.
  Memorial services will be held at the Spirit Baptist Church in Spirit at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 9, with Pastor Duane Harper officiating. Friends may call at the church on Saturday from 9:30 A.M. until the time of services.

She returned to Medford and did volunteer work and helped elderly people, She enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, taking pictures, crossword puzzles, reading & camping.

Alfred "Al" Palmer

  Alfred Donald Palmer, son of John and Gertrude Palmer was born December 15, 1927.

  Al attended Grade School in Polley, Wisconsin, and High School in Gilman Wisconsin.

  Al served in WWII 24th Division in the Army as a Military Policeman from 1946-1947.
  He returned to his home in Gilman Wisconsin where he had a mail route. He owned a
trailer court for several years. Al became the Sheriff for Taylor County from 1973-1987.
He proudly put his badge on for 14 years. While he was Sherriff, he oversaw the addition of the new jail to the courthouse. He loved to talk about his career as Sheriff
  Palmer right up to the end. Al was just an ordinary person facing extraordinary circumstances and

acting with courage, pride, honor and self sacrifice.

  Al and Kathy Palmer were married July 24, 1954 they resided in Wisconsin for 59 years.
  They both enjoyed traveling to Hot Springs, Arkansas for 20 years during the winter
months. Al enjoyed golfing, watching the Green Bay Packers, coming to Minnesota to
visit his family, the MN State Fair, and going to Gilman to see friends. He liked to go to
the Memorial Hospital cafeteria for mashed potatoes and gravy. He liked to ride his
scooter around town. Go for coffee or lunch with friends in Medford. Al was a member
of the Medford American Legion.

  Al Palmer passed away April 8, 2016at Deerview Meadows Assistant Living in MedfordWisconsin. Al was preceded in death by his parents John and Gertrude (Shookman) Palmer, two brothers John Palmer and Franklin Palmer, a sister Lois (Tallman) Palmer, wife Kathleen Palmer, brother-in-law Glen Tallman, niece Patti (Tallman) Nelson.

Al will be deeply missed by his niece Peggy (Tallman) Peterson, husband Phil Peterson,
Ernie Nelson of Isanti, Minnesota. Great Nieces and nephews
Jeremy (Jennifer) Nelson, Bryan (Jacqueline) Nelson, Amy Nelson, Lyndsie Peterson,
Caitlyn (Andy) Jorgenson. Great Great niece and nephews Cody Nelson, Owen Nelson,
Kayla Nelson, close friends Jim (Betsy) Gorichs of Medford, and many friends and neighbors.

  A memorial service and military honors for Al Palmer will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday April 13, 2016 at Hemer Funeral Home, Medford. Pastor David Clements will officiate. Cremainal Inurnment will take place in The Town of Ford Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held Wednesday at Hemer Funeral Home, beginning at 10:00 AM until the time of service.

  The family would like to express a special thank you to Aspirus Medford Hospital, Deerview Meadows Assisted Living, Missy Zuleger, and Hope Hospice and Palliative Care for the wonderful care they provided to Al.

From 1952-1957, she taught in several Taylor County schools including the Red Brick School in Bellinger & Fawn Valley School in Rib Lake. Moved to Minocqua in 1957 and worked as a CNA at Howard Young Medical Center until her retirement in 1988. She then joined her husband in traveling with volunteer groups of the Assembly of God Church called MAPS. They helped build schools, churches & campgrounds. She enjoyed writing letters to prison inmates and doing other ministry work.

They recently moved to their present address in the City of Medford.

Vernon J. Rankel, 63, of Colby Wisconsin, went to be with his Lord on April 11, 2016. A visitation will be held Saturday, April 16, 2016 from 10am to 11:30 at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford. Memorial Service will begin at 11:30am.

  Vernon was born in August 13, 1952 to George and Mary E. “Betty” (Heckel) Rankel . He grew up on the Family Farm and was one of Six children. He was educated at University of Wisconsin -Stevens Point. In May 1980, he married the love of his life Karen D. Rankel. He found his passion for trains and traveling and did both by working for the Railroad and by Driving Trucks. He also found he was good with is hands, whether, it be hanging from a bridge or fixing equipment.

  His greatest accomplishment in life was his four Children (Amie, Anna, Matthew and Stanley). To hear his stories, share in his memories could make you Smile and Laugh. Always listening and providing warm words when possible. He was a very caring and good hearted man. 

  He will be greatly missed by all of the Rankel Family with numerous nieces, nephews, friends and will live on in our hearts.

  He is Survived by his wife Karen D. Rankel: 4 Children, Amie (Goetz) Schneider, Anna (Rankel) Greff, Matthew (Magdalena) Rankel, Stanley Rankel; 5 grandchildren  (Dylan, Vinnie, Tyler, John, and Christian); 4 siblings, Jean (Jim) Diers, Paulette (Harry) Strey, James (Rosane) Rankel, Diane (Richard) Stolber, Gary Rankel and his special friend Sue; and his dearest friend(s) cousin Jerry Lundeen; John Henry (Erika) Rankel .

  He is preceded in death by his Parents (George and Betty) and Brother Stanley.

  Gerald C. Harrellson, age 55, of Dorchester, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.  A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 18, 2016 at Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Dorchester.  Family and friends are welcome 9:00 AM until the time of service at the Dorchester Funeral Home.

  Gerald was born on February 09, 1961, the son of Connie "Tom" and Gertrude (Anderson) Harrellson in Tomahawk, WI.  He graduated from Colby High School in 1979.  Gerald was united in marriage to Penny Napier on January 28, 1983 in Neillsville, WI.

  Gerald loved life.  He worked in the lumber industry for many years, and also worked for Wausau Window and Wall.  He enjoyed fishing with his children.  Gerald also liked to watch boxing on TV, gamble, and feed the wild birds.  Most of all, he was a loving husband, father, and grandfather to his step-children.

  Gerald is survived by his wife: Penny of Dorchester; his two sons:  Jacob (girlfriend; Kayla Glaser) and Alexander, both of Dorchester ; three step-daughters:  Denise (Scott) Jenung of Fortson, GA, Danielle Calhoun of Monterey, IN, and Deanna Botello of Wisconsin and 11 step-grandchildren.  He was excited on the arrival of his first grandchild coming this August.  He is further survived by his sister:  Pam Harrelson of Dorchester; two sisters-in-law: Terry (Dave) Koontz of Sussex, WI, and Lynn Klemetson of Colby, WI and  nieces, nephews, other relatives, friends, and his beloved dog, Abby.

  He was preceded in death by his parents; Tom and Gertrude, a step-son: Michael Calhoun, and a sister-in-law: Vivian Beran.

Howard H. Bedroske, age 85, of Colby, formerly of Dorchester, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2016 at the Colonial Center in Colby surrounded in love by his family.

  A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, April 18 , 2016 at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Dorchester.  The Reverend Gary Lodholz will officiate.  Family and friends are welcome from 4:00 until 7:00 PM on Sunday, April 17 and from 9:30 AM until the time of service Monday all at the church.  Burial will be at Dorchester Memorial Cemetery.  

  Howard was born on November 21, 1930, the son of Paul and Alma (Parge) Bedroske on the family farm in Dorchester.  He attended Barry School and graduated from Dorchester High School.  Howard was united in marriage on August 2, 1952 at Zion Lutheran Church in Stetsonville to Myrtle Brecke.  Together they farmed on the family farm  where they lived until retiring in 2012.  He also drove milk truck and gravel truck during that time.

  Howard always trusted in Jesus Christ as his Savior.  He was very active at St. Peter Lutheran Church serving as an Elder and President, Dorchester Lions Club, Lutheran Layman's League and the Midnite Riders Snowmobile Club.  Howard was also a member of Central WI  Steam Engine Club.  He enjoyed polka music, dancing, deer hunting, motorcycles, snowmobiling and bowling.  Howard dabbled in restoring old tractors and his Model A.  He also enjoyed socializing and being on both ends of miscellaneous pranks.  Anyone that knows Howard has a story to tell.

  Howard is survived by his wife of 63 years, Myrtle; six children:  David (Donell), Russell (Judi), Loren, Kevin (Sue), Gary (Camala) and Colleen (Steve) Sprotte; 13 grandchildren:  Amanda, Ryan (Sarah) Lucas (Caroline), Pat (Lynn), Josey (Travis) Lueth, Benjamin, Emily (Ian) Zimmermann, Nicholas, Jacob, Maralyse and Cassandra, Paul and Matthew Sprotte; nine great-grandchildren:  Noah, August, Paige, Henry, Adelaide, Sage, Hunter, Nolan, Samuel.  He is further survived by his sister, Arlene Paradies; other relatives and friends.

  He was preceded in death by his parents; his special grandson, Ezra Sprotte and a brother, Donald.

  The Bedroske family would like to thank the staff at the Colby Retirement and the Colonial Center for the compassionate care Howard received.
