Reverend Robert Louis Everhard of Abbotsford, age 90, was called home into the arms of his Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 23rd, 2018.
Robert was born on November 25th, 1927 to Louis and Cora (Eimerman) in Milwaukee. In 1945, he graduated from Solomon Juneau High School in Milwaukee. He was then drafted into the Army and was a veteran of WWII. After serving in the Army, Robert entered a management program at JC Penney for a short time before attending and graduating from Carroll College, Waukesha, in 1954. Bob was a church youth director during his college years which led him to the ministry. He graduated from the Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa in 1957. He served as a student pastor in Hebron, Illinois while in seminary.
Bob married Lori Carle in 1957 at the Calvary Presbyterian Church in Milwaukee and was also ordained there. Reverend Everhard served his first church, the First Presbyterian Church in Lodi for 7 years with his dedicated and loving wife by his side. Bob and Lori started their family in Lodi and had 3 children. Reverend Everhard then moved to the Berkeley Hillside Presbyterian Church in Hillside, Illinois for 13 years. His final full time pastoral calling was to First Presbyterian Church in Abbotsford where he ministered for 15 years. Following his retirement, Reverend Everhard served as part time pastor in Lakewood, Wabeno, Laona, Dorchester, Owen and Medford until the age of 80. In 2007, he was awarded the honorary title of Pastor Emeritus, which recognized his long time relationship with the Abbotsford community. He was a devoted servant of God having served 50 years in the ministry.
Reverend Robert L. Everhard touched many lives during his ministry. His optimistic outlook on life and unique perspective on things gave him the ability to relate to people of all ages. Bob's great sense of humor and gentle loving nature made him loved by many. He ejoyed life and making peolpe laugh. He will long be remembered for his beautiful smile and hearty laugh. He always joked, "The best preachers have short sermons and long offerings."
Bob enjoyed a variety of hobbies which included ping pong, pool, bowling, horseshoes, hunting and flying model airplanes. Spending time with friends and family is what he valued most.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Lori, and his children, Darlene (Stephen) La Fave, Dexter Everhard and Donald (Gloria) Everhard. His grandchildren: Julie Rose La Fave (Lucas Sook), Michael La Fave, Penny Lou (Keith) Gattis, Robert Louis Everhard II, Carolyn Everhard (Logan Wright) and Dalton Everhard. His great grandchildren include McKenzie Rose Gattis and Joseph DeLaney Gattis.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Vernell (John) Fishleigh.
Interment is at Abbotsford City Cemetery, Abbotsford, Wisconsin.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, July 14th, 2018, at the First Presbyterian Church in Abbotsford. Visitation will be at 10:00 A.M. followed by a Memorial Service at 11:00 A.M. A Veteran Memorial Tribute will be held at the Abbotsford City Cemetery at 12:30 P.M. There will be a lunch & time of fellowship following the Veteran Memorial Tribute at First Presbyterain Church.
